NCISAA State Championships: Ball Handlers

NCISAA hosted their state championships last weekend at Charlotte Latin where only four teams could come out on top in their classifications. Let's dive right into the ball handlers that stood out at the event.    [player_tooltip player_id='1215132' first='Caroline' last='Kelley'] used nice jab steps to get by her defender and attack the basket from the top of the key. She was tough handling the ball with speed up the court earning the chance for an old fashioned three point play. She was aggressive driving in the lane taking advantage of some free throws late in the game.     [player_tooltip player_id='252865' first='Maya' last='McCorkle'] was showing off some tough drives to the basket absorbing contact and making adjustments to hit her shot. She sees the floor well finding her open teammates up the court hitting them in stride for fast breaks. She's a tough defender getting her hands in the way grabbing the steal. She had nice spin move in the paint getting to the rim and scoring on a tough take.     [player_tooltip player_id='1215134' first='Roselyn' last='Sanchez'] did a nice job controlling the tempo for her team. She pushed it up the court scoring in transition, and she settled down running offensive sets. She had some range with her shot, too. She got her hands in the way on defense grabbing steals.     [player_tooltip player_id='1219567' first='Leanna' last='Wimsatt'] was the main ball handler for Crossroads bringing it up the court and getting some offense going. She had nice ball fakes as she worked her way to the hoop making some space for her to make the pass to her teammates. She's very quick with the ball and absorbs contact as she pushes the ball up the court and scores in transition. She hit a shot from deep off the pass showing how she can slide into the shooting guard position.     [player_tooltip player_id='621978' first='Taylor' last='Smith'] was making plays on defense getting her hands in the way and picking the pocket of her opponents. She handles the ball well being able to take these turnovers up the court to get a play going. She had a nice move using ball fakes running full speed and finishing at the rim to come out after the half. She continued to show off these finishes in the second half putting up floaters or banking it off the glass.     [player_tooltip player_id='772526' first='Jordan' last='Speller'] was doing a nice job controlling the tempo for her team resetting the offense when needed and pushing the tempo running the floor well for fast breaks when available. She makes some nice plays dishing it to her teammates as she draws defenders away from them. She has phenomenal adjustments at the rim being able to make tough shots no matter who is trying to defend her.     [player_tooltip player_id='959174' first='Cooper' last='Cox'] has some range with her shot, and she has the moves to get the open look. She gets inside for rebonds, too, pushing it right up the court going the other direction. She battled for possessions even taking them right out of her opponents hands and pushed the tempo the other direction.
