Our Freshman Showcase is the tip-off event where our Prep Girls Hoops scouts put a magnifying glass on the incoming freshman class. It's the perfect place for us to evaluate the best incoming freshman and determine who should be included on our first official Watch List. Last year, 20 names were included on the first Watch List release in September, and that number will vary year to year. Right now, we are somewhat ahead of schedule, having seen many 2029 prospects during the winter and spring travel season. Here are five 2029 centers who appear to be in store for a big June with their high school teams. All five of these prospects have shown the potential to be a top front-court prospect in this class. Seeing them go head-to-head at our Freshman Showcase will go a long way in determining who the best prospect is among the group.

Janiah was an imposing front-court prospect at the April Showers Classic. Her length and athleticism are tough to match up with. Janiah is a physical rebounder, finishes with touch around the basket, and protects the rim as an aggressive shot-blocker. She looks like one of the best post prospects in this class.

Nylah grabbed my attention as an 8th grader with a dominant performance against high schoolers at The Compound Fall League last October. She's continued to prove her merit as one of the top post prospects in the 2029 class this spring. Nylah protects the rim, finishes through contact in the paint, uses her length to deflect passes, and makes the effort plays. Nylah has the height, athleticism, and high motor to be a force for Fraser on day one.

Gabby showed off her potential as a next-level prospect when I watched her for the first time in February. She uses a variety of effective pivot moves to score in contested situations. Gabby finishes confidently using either hand around the basket and can drive downhill. She is a strong rebounder who works hard to seal defenders and has good hands when catching entry passes. Gabby left a great impression on our PGH scouts at the Indiana State Tournament, and looks like one of the top front-court prospects in the 2029 class.

Taryn was one of the best forwards on the court when I saw her for the first time in February. She imposed her will on the offensive glass, cut to open space, protected the rim as a shot blocker, and converted layups off two feet. Taryn played up with Mystics Ruh 2026 in May and was impactful once again, playing confidently against the older girls. I'm excited to see her compete with Beaverton and believe she will have a phenomenal impact as a freshman.

Niqco has the length and athleticism to be a top-tier front-court prospect in this 2029 class. At the Cagers Invitational, she was one of the best defenders at her position. She is a shot-blocking and pass-deflecting difference maker. Niqco finishes shots off two feet around the basket and is a very aggressive rebounder. I expect her to make an immediate impact as a freshman.
