North Georgia Team Camp Standouts

Lenai is a tough cookie. The bowling ball guard plays with great energy. She's physical attacking the basket and isn't afraid to mix it up in the paint when it comes to securing rebounds. Louie is aggressive on defense when guarding the ball. She got downhill consistently against Pickens, finishing with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.     Emmy caught my eye at camp as a shifty, athletic playmaker. Proffitt is a speedy penetrator with lateral quickness. She can get to the hoop for layups but is also aware enough to find shooters on drive and kicks. Proffitt put up 8 points, 3 assists and 4 steals against Fannin County. The lacrosse standout has a future on the hardwood.     The masses are starting to realize how good Caitlyn is. Garcia is a wiry guard with length and feel. She finds ways to impact games on both ends of the floor consistently. Caitlyn defends, facilitates and scores at a high level for her age. Garcia's defense often times sparks her offense. Against Jackson County, the stat sheet stuffer piled in 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals.     Jensen caught my eye at camp. I didn't know who she was but when she got the ball upon subbing in, I could tell she could play. Nadia has a strong compact frame. She's smooth with the ball. Nadia distributes out of the pick-and-roll and is fluid getting into her pull-up jumper. She has a cool feel for the game. Jensen has a bright future as a playmaker and will have plenty of chances to improve in practice while competing against Cherokee's other skilled young guards.     In a 53-49 loss to Cherokee, Eliza finished with 13 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 1 steal. Oechsle hit two threes, one via a pull-up. She scored with two floaters, one an And-1 take. Eliza is a well-balanced scorer who will have a big load on her shoulders. Oechsle has talented weapons around her. Expect a big year scoring and facilitating.     David has a sky-high ceiling. The big guard is long and lanky. She handles the ball well with a variety of dribble combos. Ella shoots the three well and can finish at the rim. Where David's value comes is her versatility. She puts her fingerprints on games on both ends of the floor. Against Cherokee she tossed in 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. Adding strength to her frame over her next four years will be important to helping her reach her ceiling in college as her mother/coach implored her to play physical in the paint against Cherokee's veterans. Every rep should help Ella get better and better. She's got a bright future.     Camp was a good opportunity for EK to expand her game with two key players missing. [player_tooltip player_id='1241700' first='Reese' last=''] got to spend a lot of time on the perimeter, helping advance the ball up the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='1241700' first='Reese' last=''] showed the ability to snatch rebounds and go coast-to-coast. With her strong frame, EK scores through contact well. When playing outside, Emerson netted a three against Cambridge en route to 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.     Lindley opens up the floor with her three-point shot. She has a quick release. While her jump shooting may be her most impactful asset offensively, Alayna also is an active defender. She competed well against Cambridge both on the perimeter and around the rim. Lindley posted 10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.     Ava knocked down threes against Hebron Christian. With [player_tooltip player_id='1110874' first='Kalee' last='Hinkson'] missing due to softball, Dyer stepped up and got to show off her elite floor spacing ability. Heading into her sophomore season, Dyer's minutes should continue to uptick. She has big shot making in her future.     Creekview has a good crop of young talent on the rise. [player_tooltip player_id='1255545' first='Preslie' last='Watson'] caught my eye with her fluidity handling the ball. She penetrates with the skill to finish at the rim or kick out to open shooters. Watson got valuable run against Denmark and Hebron Christian, two wins.
