Malia, a guard for MBA, is one to watch heading into the MI College Tour III at Grand Valley this weekend. She stands out with her defensive instincts, using active hands and quickness to jump passing lanes and force turnovers. Offensively, Malia is a well-rounded threat—she can knock down shots from beyond the arc, attack off the dribble, and finish smoothly in stride at the rim. Her handle is tight and controlled, allowing her to create space and operate with confidence. With her ability to impact both ends, she has the tools to put together a strong weekend.

Malia caught our scouts attention at team camps and the PGH Freshman Showcase. Her active hands in the passing lanes and quick feet create turnovers on the defensive end. Malia has a smooth shot from three-point range and is an effective slasher off the dribble. She makes fluid transfers to finish in stride and has excellent ball-handling control/dribble combinations. Malia has been productive for Mona Shores in the early season and she’s on track for a great career.

Malia is an incoming freshman who will be an immediate impact player for Mona Shores. She dropped in a floater off two feet and shot the ball with confidence from three-point range. Malia sprinted straight to the rim in transition, caught the pass in stride, and transferred the ball immediately to score without travelling or slowing down. Malia took the ball hard to the basket, maintained her balance through contact, and knocked down free throws. She moved laterally with quick feet to cut off drives and defended in an athletic stance. Malia pushed the ball with pace in transition using both hands–changing directions with a combination of sudden crossovers and inside-out dribbles. She stood out at Northwood Team Camp and will be exciting to watch this winter.
