As September will soon segue into October, it means we are on the cusp of the final full month without high school girls basketball in South Carolina and around the nation.

When that month is over, November will include media days and jamboree events prior to things being for real later that month.

Until then, the basketball calendar typically involves showcase events – as well as updates from a recruiting scene that stays active virtually year-round.

This past week was one of the more active ones on the recruiting trail – one that included several commitment announcements. The Upstate has particularly seen a large amount of recruiting activity. Here is the first of two recruiting updates from the Upstate.

Chambliss was one of several commitments that were announced this past week. She announced via her social media that she has committed to Mars Hill in western North Carolina for her collegiate career. She received an offer from Lions coach NaJarius Green back in August. Her final time through the AAU ranks would see her wear the EA Lady Stars/Team KB Bridges uniform. Chambliss was a key reason why 5A Division 1 Clover concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 23-3. She will be part of a veteran nucleus that should once again have coach Shakkia Walker's Blue Eagles as contenders.

The Chambliss sister act that is a key element of Clover's success will be heading to the Asheville area – Mars Hill to be exact. She and sister Julienne were both offered by the Lions in late August. Her career also included time at Fort Mill prior to her current run with the Blue Eagles. Chambliss also greatly helped her team's efforts last season en route to that stellar 23-3 record. She stands at 5-foot-8. A name that was on hand at Rock Hill earlier in the month at the Prep Girls Hoops Expo, Chambliss has her sights set on making her senior season her best yet.

Haroski, a centerpiece of all things 5A Division 2 Riverside, has seen an uptick in her recruitment lately. Her latest offer was an in-state get courtesy of another Upstate school in Converse. Haroski adds this offer to previous ones she had from Wheaton, Sewanee, Lycoming, Erskine, Middle Georgia State, Mars Hill, North Greenville and Lander. One of the premier floor generals in the state, a full season of Haroski ought to mean the Warriors will be even better than the solid 20-8 season they put together after moving up from 4A. Regardless of what happens this season, Haroski will enter the collegiate ranks having won a state championship two seasons ago.

Evans was securing Division I looks even before she became a freshman and Division I coaches are continuing to be impressed by what they are seeing from this rising star. Her latest offer was another Division I get courtesy of Miami. One can see why Hurricanes coach Tricia Cullop would want Evans in the signature green and orange hues of The U. As an eighth grader, Evans averaged 14 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals in the 26 games she played for 5A Division 1 Byrnes. The Rebels finished with a record of 19-9 last season. Evans adds the Miami offer to her resume that includes Cincinnati, George Mason, Auburn, Furman and Wake Forest all having the Rebels' rising star on their radars.

Whether it is in her current stint with Legacy Early College or her previous one with Wade Hampton, Buff has built a profile as one of the more prolific 3-point specialists throughout the Palmetto State. Back in mid-August, Buff secured a pair of southeastern schools – one from LaGrange College in Georgia and another from Johnson & Wales in uptown Charlotte. Buff competed in 18 games last season for a Lions team that concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 15-8. She already was offered earlier this year by Guilford College as well as last year by Newberry College and Montreat.

[program_tooltip program_id='715414' first='SC' last='Lady Sixers'] products have been doing very well on the Palmetto State recruiting trail lately. Turner recently took an unofficial visit to Montreat and secured an offer from the Asheville-area program. Turner has been one of the mainstays of the program at 3A Woodruff as she has competed at the varsity level since she was in the seventh grade. This past season, Turner competed in all 27 games for the Wolverines. She was a reason why Woodruff was one of the teams to beat among the 3A field last season. Her 12 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.6 steals contributed to the Wolverines' 21-6 season and 8-2 region mark. Turner is a two-sport athlete who also plays volleyball.
