7- Fargo North Spartans

Fargo North lost a lot of their firepower from last season (they graduated two 3-year starters) which is why I have them ranked number 7 preseason. They have a handful of capable returning pieces but these girls will need to increase their production from last season in order for North to compete. North is a well-coached team that has potential to win night in and night out, it is just that the top half of the EDC has more battle-tested athletes. The Spartans will rely heavily on their 2027 junior class. [player_tooltip player_id='1047686' first='Paityn' last='Knoke'] is a player who showed flashes the last two season. She has potential to be a good player and will carry a lot of the load this year. [player_tooltip player_id='1130888' first='Ella' last='Stollenwerk'], [player_tooltip player_id='1047982' first='Haylie' last='Hahnert'] and Claire Carr are all 27's who will contribute. Ninth grader [player_tooltip player_id='1124668' first='Claire' last='Christensen'] is their most talented player and should be in contention for an All-EDC spot.

8 - West Fargo Packers

West Fargo has a handful of players coming back but many need to take the next step in their development in order for the Packers to compete in a tough league. The Packers are still developing their offensive and defensive identities and should look more polished this year. [player_tooltip player_id='1130919' first='Norah' last='Bakkegard'] is a player with a lot of potential. She has a good frame and a nice looking shot. [player_tooltip player_id='1248249' first='Audra' last='Schroeder'] is an excellent defender. She is a great listener, works hard, and is an awesome teammate. [player_tooltip player_id='1106525' first='Kiaya' last='Hagen'] is a fiery guard who will be in her third season at starting guard. She recently signed to play college basketball at NDSCS. West Fargo will need to play 2029's [player_tooltip player_id='1124638' first='Jada' last='Johnson'] and Maggie Jacobson if they want to score the ball. These two are big-time prospects and could be really good high school players.

9 - Grand Forks Central Knights

Central graduated one of their schools all-time best players in Lauren Reardon in 2025. She is playing at UND this season and her production will be sorely missed. Her sister [player_tooltip player_id='469462' first='Jacie' last='Reardon'] is the Knights best returning player and a quality college prospect. She is an excellent rebounder and has improved her finishing around the rim as she has progressed through high school. Lauren Malott is a 2028 that got a lot of varsity minutes last season. [player_tooltip player_id='1130898' first='Makena' last='Roche'] is a 6' athlete who has some promise as a player. Central has been in a rut when it comes to wins but new head coach Mike Mathison has got his squad heading in the right direction. I really liked their improved press breaker and defense last season.
