Now that the previews for Classes 1A and 2A are complete, it's time to finish up Class 3A. This is the final article for Class 3A Sectionals, as the season is ending its third week, and I wanted to continue offering you a glimpse at what the 2025-26 season could hold with a preview of each of the state's 64 Sectionals once again. During the Spring of 2024, the IHSAA moved to a traditional enrollment-based format, realigning all classes with hard enrollment cutoff lines per class instead of taking nearly 400 schools and simply dividing them into four equal classes. With that said, each class has been more competitive, but the bigger classes have fewer teams than the smaller classes. This article serves as one of 64 previewing each Sectional in the state. In this specific article, I will take a look at Class 3A, Sectional #32. Below is a look at the teams in that Sectional, along with some general comments and analysis.
(SAG = Final 2024-2025 Multiclass Sagarin Rating (398 teams); SOS = Final 2024-2025 Strength of Schedule)

Evansville Central put together a memorable 2024-2025 season, advancing all the way to the Semi-State round. They did graduate three players from their seven-player rotation, including their second leading scorer & rebounder and their point guard. However, 6-1 Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='492324' first='Madalynn' last='Shirley'] (25.5p, 11.9r, 2.5a, 1.7s, 3.3b) is back for her final year. The Indiana Junior All-Star is a difficult matchup for most opponents, because she is tremendously skilled at her size and can score it at all three levels equally well. You also won't find many players who can match her effort on the floor. 5-11 Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='874339' first='Olivya' last='Hile'] (8.9p, 3.8r, 1.4a, 1.0s) has shown the ability to make shots outside or put it on the floor and get to the basket, and she should be a double-digit scorer this year. 5-8 Junior guard Maddie Glaser (5.0p, 2.9r, 1.9a) was a key cog in last season's success, and she could step into a bigger scoring rule this year as well. 5-9 Senior wing Karsyn Moore (0.7p in 16 games) and 5-7 Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='990954' first='Madelyn' last='Bender'] (0.3p in 10 games) saw a few opportunities last year, but both could enter the starting lineup this season. As long as the Bears remain healthy and continue to feed Shirley the ball, they always have a chance. They are certainly a Top 20 team in Class 3A and possibly a Top 10 team if they can build a little depth to support their Seniors.

The Tigers of Reitz Memorial had sort of a transitional year in 2024-2025, graduating key 2024 Seniors, changing coaches, etc., and now they must deal with the loss of their best guard once again to graduation in the Spring. Still, though, there is optimism for the Tigers, because just about everyone else from their core is back. 6-1 Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='610126' first='Rylee' last='Canaan'] (11.8p, 5.6r) is the headliner, as she brings good size & strength, solid all-around athleticism, plus the ability to play around the paint or the perimeter. She is a top talent in Indiana's 2027 class. 5-9 Junior guard Brynna Alpers brings two years of Varsity experience to the backcourt. While she is a natural wing scorer, she could be asked to help initiate and facilitate the offense at times. 5-10 Senior forward Jenna Herr is another interior presence who can team with Canaan inside. Herr is a solid rebounder and a steady defender. 5-2 Senior guard Lucy Greder, 5-10 Junior forward Mallory Ott, and 5-3 Junior guard Makayla Ford will need to step into much more pivotal roles if Memorial is to reclaim a winning record. However, I think with this cast of talent, they have the potential to get back into the 12 to 15-win range this season.

Heritage Hills will be an interesting watch this season, and they could be a dark horse candidate in Sectional #32. The Patriots did graduate their entire backcourt, but they also have some really nice, young talent. The one "known" of the returnees is 5-11 Junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1137294' first='Mia' last='Becher'] (9.8p, 3.6r, 1.1a, 1.4s). She has really nice length, fluid athleticism, and a great mid-range game with the ability to stretch her jumper to the 3-point line as well. She showed flashes last season of being a pure scorer on the wing. 5-6 Senior guard Kenley Bell (3.5p, 1.6r, 1.0a) is the next most experienced returnee before it gets a little unsteady. She should now step into major minutes minus the 2025 graduates. 5-10 Senior post Haylee Coleman (1.0p, 1.7r), 5-7 Senior wing Paxton Strahle (0.8p in 18 games), and 5-4 Junior guard Cora Lasher (10 games played) all look to contribute much more this time around. There is a bit of excitement surrounding a pair of youngsters for the Patriots, though. 6-0 Sophomore forward Claire Sisley (1.4p, 1.4r in 16 games) got her feet wet last season in limited minutes, but she could be a breakout candidate. She is the younger sister of Indiana University Freshman Trent Sisley. Claire has noticeable talent, so once she puts it all together, she could be a double-double regular. Then there is 5-9 Freshman wing Iyla Kress. She is another really nice prospect. She is athletic, long & wiry, and she can make plays for a team that needs playmakers. Her adjustment to the Varsity speed will be key, but at some point, expect for her to have that breakout game.

Additional Players to Keep an Eye on: Boonville: 5-10 Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='486484' first='Emily' last='Parker'] (20.3p, 7.9r, 2.3a, 2.9s) and Freshman point guard Carlie Kuebler; Evansville Bosse: 5-11 Senior post Benycee Allen (7.4p, 8.5r, 1.3s, 2.5b) and Sophomore guard Journee Ealum (5.1p, 3.4r, 1.2a, 1.8s); Mount Vernon (Posey): 5-8 Freshman guard Stella Hall and 5-9 Freshman forward Aubrey Grimes
