It is no easy feat for first year players to have a big impact on varsity and it is even more impressive when someone can do it at a true state contending team. Here are several freshman that are doing just that!
Bethel HS
Record: 20-0
RPI Ranking: #1 (3A)
Impact Freshman: 2023 5’9 SF Alyssa Smith has come and instantly turned a strong state contending team from a year ago to the number one ranked team this season. She brings some versatility at the wing position, as well as toughness, rebounding and hustle plays on defense. How she performs on the big stage at the Tacoma Dome will play a big role in determining how Bethel does when the competition tightens up.
Eastside Catholic HS
Record: 18-1
RPI Ranking: #2 (3A)
Impact Freshmen: The list for this team is long as expected with 2023s 5’9 PG Mjracle Sheppard, 6’0 SF Imbie Jones, 5’5 PG Malia Samuels, 5’7 G Isabel Sullivan and 6’0 F Amelie Sitterud (Had injury). This group is quick, aggressive and confident. Each of these girls are right on track to play at the collegiate level and some have already drawn high level interest. The backcourt of Sheppard, Samuels and Sullivan is one of the most lethal backcourts in the state, regardless of classification. Sheppard does a little bit of everything and has the physicality and motor that is displayed on both sides of the ball. Samuels is shifty and quick, while handling primary ball handling responsibilities. Sullivan is the best shooter and brings a lot of skill to the team.
Arlington HS
Record: 17-2
RPI Ranking: #3 (3A)
Impact Freshman: 2023 6’1 SF Jenna Villa has been really strong is multiple games for number three ranked Arlington and she is averaging 9 points per game on the year. Villa is currently on our watch list and a player that I am excited to continue watch grow over time. She has good size and skill for her position.

2023 6’0 F Sydney Hani (Lake Washington HS)
2023 5’6 G Quinn Erdmann (Warden HS)
2023 5’6 G Jlynn Rios (Warden HS)
