Continue ReadingBartlesville came to Jenks on Tuesday night ready to shoot the lights out. Unfortunately for the visiting Bruins, the Trojans were more than equal to the scoring task. Bartlesville’s Chloe Martin was absolutely on fire shooting the ball, but Jenks answered with 13 three-pointers to defend home court with a 78-67 win. Both teams have senior leaders that are becoming well known in Oklahoma recruiting circles, but it may be the underclassmen for both teams that are the talk of the nation in due course.

Prospects
As mentioned before, Bartlesville seniors Chloe Martin (Pitt State) and Lydia Knollmeyer (UT-Dallas) have already committed. For Jenks, seniors Makenna Burch (Tulsa), Haley Meely (Drury) and Sydney Ellis (NEO) are committed, also. In Tuesday night’s game, the stars performed as expected. However, several underclassmen really stood out and should definitely be on the radar of colleges at all levels.

Luciano is a freshman but on Tuesday night she did not play like one. Luciano had three three-pointers, all in the second half as her team weathered a comeback by Bartlesville. Luciano is a good perimeter defender who had the tough task of guarding either Chloe Martin or Makenna Burch. Luciano looks to be fairly quick with decent handles. With age and experience, she could most definitely step into the vacancy left when Makenna Burch departs next season.

Valentine is a point guard with outstanding quickness. Her handles are the key to her game as she was able to break off any defender that dared to guard her too closely. On this night, the sophomore distributed the ball deftly against a tough Jenks defense. She forced several turnovers at crucial times with her quickness to play the passing lane. Here again, when the Bruins lose numerous players to graduation after this season, Valentine will no doubt become a scoring leader for this team as she matures and finds her shooting stroke.
Mackenzie Forgione | 6-0 F | Jenks
Forgione is only a freshman. Sometimes it shows in her over-competitiveness following a turnover or missed shot under the basket. She fouled out on Tuesday due in large part due to Bartlesville driving the basket and challenging her in the lane late in the game. Forgione shows the ability to finish with either hand at the rim. With time, she will learn to avoid foul trouble and how to position herself a little better for rebounds. Once that happens, Forgione will become a go-to scorer for the Trojans.

Rovenstine looks like she is going to develop into an outstanding spot-up shooter. She only had one three-pointer in Tuesday night’s game, but it is clear to see that she is a shooter. Foul trouble kept her out for a large portion of the game, but while she was in it was hard not to notice her. She is a pernicious defender and seems to really pride herself on the little things. Each possession is an individual challenge for her – on the offensive or defensive end. The love of the game is evident in everything she does on the court.
