Monday morning, Prep Girls Hoops Indiana posted the Winter update for the Class of 2029. There were more than 25 new prospects added to the 2029 watch list, far more than any other graduating class this time around. Typically accompanying updates are articles highlighting newcomers and just all-around general information regarding each position group. Below is a look at the combo guards and shooting guards who were added in the state of Indiana, followed by some brief commentary on each of them.

.

Due to some key upperclassmen not playing this season, Chesterton is going through somewhat of a youth movement, with a lot of Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen seeing quality court time. Ella is benefitting from this, and she has proven to be a really nice talent who should be highly impactful throughout her career. She is a long, gliding athlete, she is a capable perimeter shooter who should become more consistent as she gains more experience, and she is a willing rebounder. She is averaging 9.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the semi-young Lady Trojan squad.

Franklin County often has a really nice player or two, but due to their location, it's difficult for many people statewide to see/hear about them throughout the Winter. Kodie is a very intriguing, versatile guard prospect, who can play a number of roles and affect games in different ways. Ideally, I think she'll either be a point guard or a scorer with point skill by the time she reaches college. She has solid size & strength for her age, she can create for teammates and is a willing passer, plus she can score it from all three levels herself. In addition, she can defend multiple positions, and she is an effortful defender/rebounder.

Usually when people suggest "I don't know what's in the water," they are referring to a school with a lot of height/size. In Avon's case, however, they seem to have cornered the market recently on small guards who can fill it up. Saniyah falls right in line with that, and she has performed well as a rookie against a very solid Class 4A schedule this year. She is a capable perimeter shooter when set and in rhythm, she can get into the paint and finish around 'bigs', plus she is a willing & capable facilitator. Saniyah is averaging 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the Orioles.

The Mount Vernon in Southwest, Indiana, hasn't had a strong run of late in girls' basketball, but Stella and a few of her classmates are trying to rectify that moving forward. Stella is an extremely long, wiry, playmaking guard who can do a little of everything for the Lady Wildcats. She has proven she can score it off the bounce and at the free throw line, she can create for teammates, and she uses her length well at the defensive end of the floor to create steals/deflections. As she improves her perimeter jumper, watch out! Stella is averaging 11.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 3.6 steals per game for the rapidly improving Wildcats.

Kylah is an extremely intriguing young prospect who is already playing at a high level, plus her best years are still well ahead of her. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, fluidly athletic, and skilled. She can handle it and initiate the offense, she can make open shots when set and in rhythm, and she can glide by defenders to get to the basket. She has scored in double figures several times as a rookie, but she will also rebound & defend. I am anxious to see her on the grassroots circuit match up against some of the state's better prospects and see where she stacks up, because her upside is noticeable.

For the past three seasons, Boonville has had a really nice prospect in 2026 wing [player_tooltip player_id='486484' first='Emily' last='Parker']. However, she has needed help. This year, in walks Carlie, and they have won 10 games for the first time since 2020-2021. Carlie has good height for a ball-handler, she can and will create for teammates, but she has also proven herself to be a versatile scorer who can make open shots when in rhythm or attack the basket and finish inside. She is currently averaging 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game for the improved Pioneers. She and Parker could pose a threat in the Sectional next week.

Ben Davis opted to go with a youth movement this year, as the Lady Giants have three Freshmen averaging 20 or more minutes per game, plus they have two other rookies who have seen the floor in Varsity action already. Daijah is a really nice athlete, she's a slashing style of scorer/attacker for the most part, but she can step outside and knock down a jumper when open, set, and in rhythm. The young guard for the Giants is averaging a solid 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on a very difficult schedule. Look for her to potentially be a double-digit scorer in the next year or two for BDHS.
