The full rankings for the class of 2023 in Oklahoma probably will not be released until the grassroots season is over, but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t seen plenty out of some really good players in the freshmen class. There are some big school stars from perennial powerhouses. There are some small school stars looking to put their school on the map. By 2023, these players will be shaping the landscape of Oklahoma prep girls’ hoops.
Aaliyah Henderson | 5-9 G | Norman | Highlights
Henderson is a freshman starting on one of the most dominant teams in the state. I mean, the Norman Tigers are absolutely loaded. Yet when you watch them play, Henderson still stands out. She is quick with the ball and when shooting it. She is a fierce defender who goes hard the entire game. She has outstanding post moves for someone her size and can pretty much score from anywhere on the court. She was often seen guarding the best post scorer for the opposing team. Norman is set-up to be a perennial contender with Henderson leading the team in a few years.
Braydin Russell | 5-10 G/F | Bishop McGuinness | @BraydinRussell | Highlights
In early 2019 Adidas sent a documentary crew to Guthrie to film Braydin putting up 500 shots a day. She does it every day. So, whatever the term is for someone who has advanced beyond gym rat status, that’s her. She is probably the best pure shooter in all of Oklahoma and still has three years ahead of her. There is a very good chance that she will be number one in the class of 2023 when the rankings come out. Russell has great size, great handles and puts forth tremendous effort on defense. She has stated numerous times her desire to go to Oklahoma State to play basketball and head coach Jim Littell would be crazy not to already be in touch with her about heading to Stillwater in late 2023.
Landry Allen | 6-2 C | Tuttle | @landryallen25 | Highlights
Enter the paint against Tuttle High at your own peril. Landry Allen owns the inside for the Tigers and blocks shots at an almost unheard-of pace. She also averaged the third-most points in the state for a freshman with 14.2 ppg, shooting 56.2% from the field. Her 8.9 rebounds per game were the second-most for any freshman player. It would appear that a double-double averaging season is in her future, along with a flood of college interest. Allen already has offers from several high-profile programs including Oklahoma, Texas Tech and TCU.
Kenzli Warden | 5-10 G/F | Tecumseh | @KenzliWarden | Highlights
Warden is an absolute scorer. She can shoot from deep, to the tune of 37.3% from behind the arc. She averaged 12.6 per game and shot almost 40% from the field. Kenzli is all over the court when you watch tape of Tecumseh. She streaks in on defense for quick steals. She comes off of screens and has an outstanding turnaround jumper. She even defends inside with strength and ferocity. Warden is one to watch and should make Tecumseh a must see team over the next several years.
