Today ends the 2025-2026 IHSAA Girls' Basketball season in Indiana. At this point, the Class 1A and Class 2A games have concluded, and the Borden Braves (1A) and Eastern (Pekin) Musketeers (2A) are your 2026 State Champions in their respective classes!! Both are representatives of the Southern Conference as well. Below is a look at six individuals who stood out in today's early action. I have chosen two players from each Championship team and one player from each runner-up team for the 1A/2A All-Tourney Team.

.

CLASS 1A MVP: Emma was outstanding all day, and not necessarily in an obvious way. While the Fremont Eagles focused on other teammates with higher scoring averages, Emma did a nice job of cleaning up the glass, getting put-backs, and playing strong at the defensive end of the floor. In a record-tying defensive effort, a 51-31 win, she delivered 15 points, 15 rebounds (6 offensive), 3 assists, a steal, and a blocked shot. Additionally, Emma was named the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award winner. Congratulations, Emma!!

Riley was a focal point of the Fremont defense throughout the game, but especially early on, managing just a single basket in the first quarter. However, as her scoring picked up later in the contest, she found other ways to contribute and help her team to their second consecutive State Championship in Class 1A. Riley finished today with 10 points, she pulled down 3 rebounds, and she handed out 8 big assists, continuing her trend of helping to affect more than 25 points per game for the Lady Braves.

Offense was tough to come by for Grace and the Lady Eagles of Fremont High School Saturday morning. While they finished as runners-up, it was an outstanding season, the best ever, in the history of the Lady Eagle program. Grace did what she could against Borden's height and length defensively. Through it all, she managed 10 of the team's 31 points, plus she added 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the 51-31 defeat. Look for Grace and her teammates to fight to get back here again next season.

CLASS 2A MVP: Sidney had much of the same impact on game-2 as [player_tooltip player_id='797505' first='Emma' last='Hart'] (above) did on game-1. Sidney was an opportunistic scorer, utilizing offensive rebounds and finding holes in the Oak Hill defense to drive it to the rim. She also did a nice job of absorbing contact and earning repeated trips to the free throw line. Sidney finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds (6 offensive), an assist, and a steal, plus she was 8-10 from the charity stripe. She is an effective mid-post forward with small college value.

To begin with, Addison was the Class 2A Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award winner, due to her impressive academics, leadership qualities, and athletic contributions. In this game, she handled the ball quite a bit for Eastern, she was a willing distributor, but she also scored it and defended in the 50-32 victory. Addison is a really nice all-around athlete, she plays with poise and patience, and she did a great job of handling pressure. She finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Congratulations on the award, Addison!!

Due to her skill, talent, and size around the paint, Brianna drew about as much defensive attention as anyone in either of the first two games. Even though she scored about half of her season average, she was the most effective Golden Eagle by the end of the game. Brianna was especially good defensively, where she blocked 6 shots. Additionally, she scored 8 points, she pulled down 5 rebounds, and she handed out an assist, plus she even comfortably knocked down the only 3-point attempt she took. And she's just a Sophomore!!
