Multiple teams were able to reach the 2019-20 state playoffs including one program that won their first state championship in over a decade. With teams revamping their respective rosters, this county is poised for another dominant season as a whole. Here is part two of the top returning forwards to lookout for in Pitt County during the 2020-21 season.
Janiya Foskey (Farmville Central forward, 2021)
Rising senior forward Janiya Foskey is one of many prospects in the area that should be receiving more attention from college coaches. Her play down the stretch of the season was part of why Farmville Central was able to capture a state title for the first time in over a decade. She’s a skilled ball handler, shooter, and she’s a really good passer at her size. Foskey had a lot of big games in the state playoffs and she’s a part of one of the best post duos in the state alongside A’miya Joyner.
Shakyra Bryant (North Pitt forward, 2021)
Another rising senior that could see late interest from college coaches is North Pitt forward Shakyra Bryant. She rebounded the ball well and while she wasn’t a primary scoring option, she made a lot of plays finishing around the basket. As a senior, she’ll be counted on a little bit more as a post presence that impacts both ends of the floor. Expect her to play a big role on what should be yet another talented Panthers team in 2021.
Alondra Jordan (South Central forward, 2022)
Rising junior Alondra Jordan played a lot as a forward and a wing for the South Central Falcons last season. She made her biggest impact as a knockdown three point shooter that could get hot at any time. When the Falcons needed crucial buckets in big games, Jordan was there to make it happen from long distance. She’s also a really good offensive rebounder and created a lot of extra possessions for her team last year. Expect her to be one of the best shooters in the county on a team that should win a ton of basketball games this season.
Teuanna Bryant (J.H. Rose forward, 2021)
Rose forward Teuanna Bryant is another one of the top shooters in Pitt County and she’ll be counted on heavily this season. She plays with a lot of energy and from time to time, she had some excellent scoring outputs against good teams. Bryant will be counted on in 2021 as a player that can stretch the floor for a Rampants team that made it to the state playoffs last year.
