While the AAU season still has a couple more weeks to go around the country, Minnesota's stretch of events has officially come to a close. Over the weekend, PGH intern Paxyn Rendahl and I headed to The Meltdown, hosted by [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan']. With the event taking place at multiple sites around the Twin Cities, we spent the weekend in Shakopee, looking for players who are ending the AAU season on a high note. This weekend was also the last go-around for members of the class of 2027, who will be starting their senior years this fall. With that in mind, here are a few members of the senior class who went out with a bang.

Following a junior season where she averaged over 20 points per game for Triton, Essig has continued to put up major offensive performances all summer. The [program_tooltip program_id='774605' first='Southern' last='MN Fury'] guard led the way for her team at the Meltdown, scoring 54 points over the course of the weekend. A tenacious, scrappy floor general with a serious burst of speed, Reagan excels at getting downhill. Her ability to change pace in an instant, plus a tight handle on the ball allows the Cobras senior to leave her defender in the dust and score at the rim. In addition to her offensive contributions, Essig displayed her strong court vision, playmaking abilities, and aggressive, attack-style defense over the weekend, leading the Fury to a 4-1 record.

Lund's game has grown significantly since I watched her play last summer. The 5'9 guard has gotten stronger, adding a significant amount of muscle to her frame. She's also playing more assertively on both ends of the floor. In a matchup against [program_tooltip program_id='774605' first='Southern' last='MN Fury'] this weekend, Shannon was tasked with guarding the post. Though she gave up plenty of height, the [program_tooltip program_id='779294' first='Northern' last='Lights'] guard stepped up the the challenge, using her physicality to maintain balance down low and protect the paint. On the other end of the floor, the Cromwell-Wright senior showed off a wide variety of offensive tools. Lund knocked down shots from the perimeter, made pull-up jumpers in the midrange, and showed off a smooth step-through move in the lane.

It was a big weekend for Juntunen, who dropped 72 points for [program_tooltip program_id='714566' first='Minnesota' last='Stars'] Lodermeier at the Meltdown. The 5'8 guard (pictured in the banner photo above) scored in seemingly every possible way. She found openings off of backdoor cuts, effectively used ball screens to get open on the perimeter, blew by defenders on drives to the hoop, and even forced a steal and picked up a transition layup right before the halftime buzzer. There's no question that Alexa's willingness to push the pace and ability to handle the ball under pressure were major assets for her team this weekend. On the other end of the floor, the Rogers senior kept the volume on high, using her speed and active hands to shut down the perimeter.

The [program_tooltip program_id='712699' first='Minnesota' last='Rise'] 2027 Jeddeloh squad has a defensive identity overall, and Ibberson is no exception. The 5'8 guard has impressive stamina, proven by her consistent engagement both on and off the court. On defense, Brynne's awareness of passing zones allows her to anticipate where the ball is headed and capture the ball. She moves quickly, taking advantage of her athleticism to crash the boards, get rebounds, and push the ball up the court. On offense, the Sleepy Eye St. Mary's senior communicates with her team where to be while creating her own space in the half court. When Ibberson isn't in the game, she can still be heard cheering for her team from across the gym.

Back-to-back steals with back-to-back assists in transition are a prime example of Klein's style of play. Relentless on defense, the 5'10 wing is continuously attacking on the court, reading where the ball is and where it will end up. On offense, Ava remains involved, keeping the game moving with or without the ball in her hands and staying ready for when a scoring opportunity comes her way. In the last few minutes of the game, whether her team is up or down, the [program_tooltip program_id='718403' first='Minnesota' last='Freeze'] standout continues to play hard, pushing to get her teammates the ball and leaving everything she has on the floor. Over the past few weeks, the Elk River senior has picked up offers from D3 UW-Superior and NAIA Mayville State.

Consistently proving to be a scoring threat on the court, Sendzik was a standout performer for the [program_tooltip program_id='767539' first='Minnesota' last='Comets'] over the weekend. Whether it's pulling up for a balanced mid-range jumper or finishing over taller defenders with a soft, controlled floater, Lauren displays impressive touch around the basket. The 5'9 shooting guard doesn't shy away from big moments, making her a reliable offensive option when her team needs a bucket. Beyond her scoring ability, the Zimmerman senior understands how to play within the flow of the offense, earning her teammates' trust through smart decision-making and consistent production. Sendzik's confidence, composure, and willingness to take on key scoring responsibilities make her an impactful presence every time she steps on the floor.

PGH intern Paxyn Rendahl contributed to these evaluations.
