Boyke needs to be recognized as easily one of the top players in the state regardless of class. She was outstanding throughout the playoffs and led her team to the state championship game. Boyke definitely would be deserving of the Player of Year award.

Boyke is a superstar through and through. She’s fought through injuries her junior year to put her team on the brink of the semifinals. This is what she’s waited for and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her dominate this game.

Boyke has shown us that she’s ready to lead this next generation. She’s faced adversity with an injury, but fought through it and has come out better on the other end. Boyke can be an example for the fighting spirit needed to be great, both on and off the court. Central Michigan has a gem on the way, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Lexi was the most dominant player on the day. She drew quadruple teams throughout the second half yet still found ways to create space. Once she got the ball, it was a guaranteed bucket. I was most impressed with her motor and ability to move in the press and off the ball. I was curious how her knee would hold up and if she would be tentative- all questions were answered for me. She checked all boxes for me: steals, owned the boards, blocks, and outlet passes.

Boyke could be a very real threat to win the award this year. She’s a versatile forward that can attack outside-in as well as inside-out. As Boyke leads a talented Frankenmuth squad, expect her to build momentum as the season plays on.

Boyke will almost certainly move up this list as the season plays out. She’s returning from an injury and I’m guessing that she’ll make a lot of noise in doing so. She is a solid defender that does a nice job denying post entry passes. Boyke has the ability to attack the defense from the outside-in as well as from the inside-out. Not only can she do that, but she’s a high IQ player that is completely aware of her matchup and the best way to go about being an offensive influence. Boyke’s name should be in any and all Miss Basketball conversations.

Boyke was out much of last season with an injury, but the state of Michigan needs to be on notice that she’s back and ready to roll. Quite honestly, she could be a Miss Basketball finalist when it’s all said and done. Boyke has the ability to inside-out as well as outside-in, depending on matchups and situations. Her game really translates well to what coaches at the next level are looking for from their forwards.

Boyke has slowly rose up the rankings over her high school career, but I now when I’m wrong, it should have been faster. Boyke is ready for a big senior season and I think will be hearing Miss Basketball whispers over the course of the year.
