The landscape of the 2A classification has changed once again. The 2027 season brings 6 new additions to the 64 team field after 8 teams joined in 2026. 3 moved down from 3A and another 3 moved up from 1A Division I. Gone to 3A are perennial power Hillsboro, Syracuse and Central Heights. Northern Heights, Udall and annual state tournament threat Rawlins County slide to 1A Division I. Joining 2A from the 1A ranks are always strong Clifton-Clyde, 2026 state tournament third place Wabaunsee and perennial power Olpe. Phillipsburg re-joins 2A bringing Jayhawk-Linn and Oskaloosa with them. Noteworthy is that a few of the top small school bigs are joining the classification. A big change from a season ago is the number of returning KBCA, KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas all-state picks. In 2026 a large number returned. For 2027 every first team KBCA, KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas first team selection but one graduated. Only defending state champ Sacred Heart's Addie Lee, a SIK pick, returns. Below are my top all-state picks spread out through positions

Opponents gifted her with 167 free throw attempts last season of which that she made 67%. She will cross the thousand point scoring threshhold in her first game of the season.
With the graduation of Macy Kaminkow (Tabor College) the Wildcat center will be in command the middle for the Wildcats. I expect her numbers will rise substantially from the 8.8 points and 2.9 rebounds she put up last season. The 2026 unanimous all-state selection by KBCA, KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas returns as a Heart of America League second team pick. The junior picked up an offer from University of Nebraska-Kearney over the summer.
