On the Radar: New 2024 Names (Part 1)
In this article:
With the season pushed back, we are looking to expand the 2024 watchlist with some new names. Here’s a look at some new names on our radar.
Carlie Thurmond Carlie Thurmond 5'7" | PG Bethlehem | 2024 State KY , Bethlehem – As an 8th grader, Thurmond averaged 4 points per game as the 6th man on one of the state’s top teams. At 42% shooting from three, Carlie showed the ability to shoot the ball at a high clip for the Banshees and should see even more open looks come her way this season on a very talented roster. As she becomes more comfortable attacking the rim around bigger and older competition, Thurmond should establish herself as a top 2024 in the 5th region.
Bella Quinn Bella Quinn 5'7" | SG Russell | 2024 State KY , Russell – The 2024 class at Russell is really good and Bella has the look of a future top 10 player in the region. Quick and skilled, Quinn is a good defender who saw the floor in every game last year for Russell. A solid shooter at 34% from 3 last season, the guard is continuing to become a more well rounded player and affecting the game on both ends of the court.
Ella Sellars Ella Sellars 5'9" | SG Ashland Blazer | 2024 State KY , Ashland Blazer – A versatile player at 5’9, Sellars will have a chance to start this season for Ashland. She’s a tough left handed guard who can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim but needs to continue developing her perimeter shot to reach her potential on the offensive end. Right now, Ella’s defense is a little ahead of her offense.
Ava Schureman Ava Schureman 5'10" | SF Great Crossing | 2024 State KY , Great Crossing – The big wing has double-double potential this season after averaging 6 points and 7 rebounds per game last season as an 8th grader. Ava was thrown to the wolves a little last season but she came out a better player for it. As she improves her overall scoring efficiency, Schureman could be the top 2024 in the 11th region.
Jasmine Jordan Jasmine Jordan 6'2" | C Boyd County | 2024 State KY , Boyd County – Any player with good size and length is going to catch some eyes on the court and Jasmine has both. She’s 6’1 and still growing and could see the floor as a rotation player this season. Boyd is loaded with talented guards and Jordan could be the missing piece long term to get them to make a run at Rupp Arena in a couple of years.
