June is a big month for rankings throughout the Prep Girls Hoops Network, and for the Class of 2022, they start a lot of "lasts"...their last Summer of grassroots basketball, their last high school season, their last run at conference and state tournament titles, and their last opportunities to make impressions on college coaches who have been recruiting them. On the whole, the 2022 list expanded from 200 prospects to 225 prospects, and there was some movement throughout the entirety of the list. With regards to that movement, this is the second of three articles highlighting 15 prospects who moved up the rankings nine or more spots this time around. Below is a look at five more ladies I felt really stood out with their play throughout the Spring. [player_tooltip player_id="128137" first="Katie" last="Bremer"], 2022, 5-11 PF/SF, Cathedral H.S. - Katie’s grassroots play over the last couple of years has been sporadic, so it’s been good to catch her in action several times this Spring. She is a long, wiry-strong, bouncy, and fluid forward. She has always flashed athletic ability, but now that she’s stronger, she’s finishing plays a lot better inside of 15-feet. She’s a great pursuing rebounder, and she’s a tough matchup in the mid-post. But she also has some skill around the perimeter and could eventually develop into a full-time wing. [player_tooltip player_id="97326" first="Mariah" last="Claywell"], 2022, 5-7 SG, Union City H.S. - Mariah is another kid who has put herself out there this Spring, participating in grassroots tournaments and showcase events. She is a nice athlete in all directions, she has a wiry-strong frame, and she plays with a motor. She can handle the ball and make plays in transition, she’s a really nice driver in the half-court, and she earns repeated free throw trips if she doesn’t finish inside. She will need to become more of a threat from behind the arc, but small colleges will really like her. [player_tooltip player_id="128165" first="Hope" last="Fox"], 2022, 5-7 CG, East Central H.S. - I watch Hope and just enjoy how consistent she is. She doesn’t get too high or low emotionally, she always plays hard, and she uses her versatility to be productive in some way, shape, or form every time out. She has a wiry-strong frame, good length, and she’s a solid all-around athlete. She can handle the ball and run offense, she can make shots at all three levels, and she’s a tough-nosed defender who will rebound. She isn’t going to ’wow’ you with flashy plays, but she’ll be highly efficient. [player_tooltip player_id="128206" first="Montasia" last="McAllister"], 2022, 5-10 SG, Lawrence Central H.S. - When I first saw Montasia as a Freshman at Lawrence North, I honestly thought she was [player_tooltip player_id="62526" first="Jayla" last="Smith"]’s (2021 SG) younger sister. Montasia has that same long, wiry frame, she’s a smooth and fluid athlete in all directions, and she has good touch from around the perimeter. This Spring she looks stronger, and she has proven that she can score it consistently at all three levels. She just has an ’it’ factor to her game when you watch, and I think she’ll draw a lot of attention this July. [player_tooltip player_id="206422" first="Madeline" last="Robertson"], 2022, 6-2 C, Mitchell H.S. - There aren’t a lot of traditional centers in Indiana is this 2022 class, and Madeline is benefitting from that, because she put together a very productive, consistent Spring season. She has tremendous length, broad shoulders, some strength, and she doesn’t mind being physical and seeking contact first. She keeps the ball high most of the time, and she has some touch facing the basket. But it’s her physicality, hands, feet, and overall play around the basket that should draw coaches in.
