The class has some solid depth to it, with several ladies who have multiple scholarship offers to play at the D1 level. Here is a breakdown of the top 10 our 2020 Class Rankings:
- Maddie Scherr, Ryle – Scherr will take her 15 points and 7 rebounds per game to Rupp Arena for the state tournament next week on a Ryle team that many will pick to win it all. ESPN has her as a 4 star player and Top 25 in the country in 2020. She starts the Junior rankings as our number 1 ranked player in the class in Kentucky. She has a large stack of offers to choose from when the time comes.
- Shelby Calhoun, Christian Academy of Louisville – Calhoun is right behind Scherr in these inaugural rankings and in the national rankings as a 4 star recruit and 29th in the country in the 2020 class. Although she missed 6 games this season, Shelby still averaged a double-double with 10.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Shelby has multiple Power 5 scholarship offers already.
- Ta’ziah Jenks, Mercy – Jenks led Mercy in points and rebounds on the year and has helped get the Jaguars to Rupp Arena next week for the state tournament. Dominant in the post, Ta’ziah has averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds on the season but will need to improve as a perimeter shooter, where she only shot 20% on 64 attempts this season. Jenks already has multiple D1 offers heading into her 17u AAU season.
- Kennedy Igo, George Rogers Clark – Kennedy is one of the best three point shooters in the state, regardless of class. In her Junior season, the 5’7 guard has shot an impressive 47% from 3 and was second on the team in scoring for GRC despite missing a third of the season to injury. She has already verbally committed to Northern Kentucky.
- Whitney Hay, Elizabethtown – Whitney has had an impressive Junior season, scoring 750 points on the year heading into the regional championship game. Hay has some of the more impressive shooting numbers of this group as her shooting splits sit at 53/44/79. She’s helped lead Elizabethtown to the rare 30 win season and is going to have a strong case for Ms. Basketball next year. She has an offer from NKU and likely a lot more coming this summer.
The Next 5:
- Ally Collett, South Laurel – An extremely popular mid major D1 recruit, Collett averaged 21 points per game as a Junior.
- Erin Toller, Sacred Heart – Ranked 60th in the country by ESPN, Toller missed her Junior season after and ACL tear. She’s committed to UK.
- Kendall Wingler, Meade County – One of the top scorers in the state at 26 points per game, Wingler should see her recruitment take off this summer.
- Malea Williams, Scott County – The 6’2 Junior’s recruitment blew up last summer with 7 D1 offers. She averages a double-double with 13.5 and 11.2 rebounds per game.
- Charlee Settle, Calloway County – Another double-double machine with 23 points and 11 rebounds per game.
