Among all classes we have 139 total evaluations with 59 of those in the junior class. This isn’t an exhaustive list of everyone in the class at the event, but rather who played well or for extended minutes that we were able to get an eye on. This is Part I of IV.
Presley Case – 5’4 PG – North Scott
Really liked Case’s game during the week. She’s a pass first point guard but is a really good decision maker. Really fluid with the ball and is dynamic. Quick burst and ability to push it up fast. Case can score the ball a little bit but her playmaking is her best weapon. Knows the game and is a leader.
Grace Boffeli – 6’2 C – North Scott
Boffeli is a strong inside presence who can really score the ball down low. Can score the ball through contact and against length. Pretty mobile with ability to stretch out the defense just a touch. Great hands and receives the ball really well. Just a tough post who can simply get baskets. Great post defender.
Ella Skinner – 6’ F – Bishop Heelan
Skinner is a fairly mobile post player who wants to sit out on the perimeter right now. I think that at the next level she is going to have to be a post due to the frame. She can shoot it a little bit and handles it well. More mobility won’t hurt her but is already mobile enough for the college game at a small school.
Katie Cooke – 5’1 PG – Bishop Heelan
Cooke is as tough as they come. Defensively she’s a jitterbug as she is always moving on the bottom of their 1-3-1 style zone. She’s really quick and gives a ton of effort on both ends. Makes good decisions with the ball just undersized. Plays with a chip on her shoulder.
Katelyn Stanley – 5’10 F – Bishop Heelan
Stanley is a one of those players who is just so opportune. She scores the ball pretty well and can run in transition. I don’t think that you want her to have the ball a ton in transition, but the handle is there in the open floor. Isn’t fast but she can stay with wings on the drive.
Amber Aesoph – 5’8 G – Bishop Heelan
I really liked the game of Aesoph. She is a lengthy guard who runs really well in transition. Puts herself in good spots to get the ball and passes it well. Solid basketball IQ but I think she was a little more aggressive than she needed to be. Isn’t someone that you can put on ball in traffic.
Anna Deets – 5’8 W – Mason City
Deets is a very strong wing who is versatile and able to play both on the inside or on the wing. I really like her ability to be able to take her man off of the dribble to the rim. She really knows what is going on around her and picks her spots well when attacking.
Britney Young – 5’8 G – Waverly-Shell Rock
Young is a solid on-ball guard for Waverly-Shell Rock. She sucks the defense in really well on the drive and can make things happen. Great good court vision and handles the pressure well. Offense is a little behind the playmaking right now, but she is right on track to play at the next level.
Kayba Laube – 5’9 PG – Marion
I really liked the game of Laube. She’s fairly aggressive with the ball and isn’t afraid to shoot it, unlike some players she isn’t one to rip off a lot of bad shots. Takes pride in playing defense and is a vocal leader on the floor. Creates space with the dribble well. Has range six feet behind the line. Committed to Northern Iowa.
Caitlynn Daniels – 5’7 PG – Cedar Rapids Xavier
Daniels struggled with length against Marion. She seemed to take a few shots that were rushed and just didn’t look settled. I want to see a better jumper from her as she fades when she shoots the ball making her release inconsistent. Good passer with a solid knowledge of the game, I just think that she needs to become more comfortable against length. Dynamic lead guard. Committed to UAB.
Libby Arnold – 5’9 W – Cedar Rapids Xavier
Arnold plays very solid defense and is very strong with the ball. Isn’t one to overwhelm you with scoring, but can hit the jumper and gets into spots really well. Fluid with the ball but I think still needs to take that next step to elevate her game. Versatile player who is tough and willing to get down low.
Juliann Clark – 5’5 G – Roland-Story
Clark is the main ball handler for Roland-Story and she does a pretty solid job of it. Isn’t very quick and struggles at times on the defensive end. Seems to relax a little too much at times but I do like her command of the ball. Good rebounder for her size but struggles to get the ball in the basket against better players and height.
Jaedon Murphy – 5’11 F – North Polk
Really love the game of Murphy. She’s a skilled forward who patrols all over the floor. I think her stock is going to sky rocket this summer and will start to gain the attention of some LM’s. She can shoot it, handle it, and is rather skilled with it. Can play on the inside and outside and moves well. Murphy is a versatile player that coaches are going to love.
Sharon Goodman – 6’3 C – Crestwood
Goodman is a huge presence on the inside. Really great rebounder who knows how to get to her spot. Soft hands allow her to collect balls that come off the rim in her area. I think that she is a touch raw offensively still, but if she gets it within 5’ of the basket she is going to score. Just needs a little tougher competiton to hone her skill. Committed to Iowa.
Laken Lienhard – 5’6 G – Crestwood
Lienhard is a hard-working guard who isn’t overly athletic or skilled, but can use her body to get into the lane. Once in there she usually passes it out to the open players. Good handler but would like to see her get better on defense.
