Nobody graduates from this season’s second place squad, including 5-foot-4 guard Madison Eisenman. She’s one big reason why the Eagles check as 2A’s No. 2-ranked team in PGHIA’s “Way Too Early Rankings” for next season.
Eisenman averaged 8.8 points per game for the Eagles as a junior this past season. It was sharpshooting ability that was her best strength.
“I definitely see my strength as being a shooting guard outside and being able to hit those shots at the 3-point line,” Eisenman said. “I need to start driving more so I can up my game, not just scoring outside but also inside, too.”
As a junior, Eisenman was actually part of the eldest group of girls on the team. There were no seniors, so she had to help fill the leadership role that a senior otherwise would.
“I had to be a huge leader out there, being a junior and not having any seniors out there was a huge part of that,” said Eisenman, who says getting back to state is the key goal for her.
“Being at state was huge and was just a really unique feeling, and on the court helping Rachel Leerar out was a huge part of my role. When she got pressured I needed to step up my game and help create open shots.”
Eisenman added: “Now that we made it to the state championship game, we’re looking for the state championship. Ending the season with a runner-up makes us have a huge goal of winning it next year. But we’ll have to make it back to state in order to do that.”
Ahead of her senior season, Eisenman will play a 17U grassroots season with North Iowa Fire; and she’ll also be playing plenty with her high school team in summer team camps.
“(Recruitment) has not started up yet, but I’m very interested in playing college ball,” said Eisenman.
“Some goals I have are to be able to develop my game more, having a quicker shot so I can have it off before the opponent gets there, and I want to attack more.”
