Kentucky has been fortunate over the years to have a lot of really good low post scorers at the power forward and center positions. Here’s a look at some of the best post players in Kentucky.
Malea Williams, Scott County – A great post scorer and one of the best rebounders in the state, Malea has been very popular with college coaches since the April live period. Looking ahead, I’m excited to see what the team at Scott County looks like after graduation and any players lost to the new school in the county.
Charlee Settle, Calloway County – There are a lot of similarities with Settle and Williams. Charlee is a quality low post scorer with polished post moves. She’s already committed to Murray State for college but she is capable of helping get Calloway County to Rupp Arena to finish out her career.
Kristen Clemons, Sacred Heart – A big time weapon for the Valkyries, Clemons is going to benefit with the return of Erin Toller to the back court for their Senior season. It’s going to be hard to double Kristen in the post and she will absolutely dominate single coverage in the low post.
Trinity McGee, Christian County – Trinity is strong and skilled and a very tough cover for any team trying to get her out of the post. She’s our top ranked player in 2021 for a reason. McGee is an excellent rebounder and continues to improve as a low post scorer.
Raigan King, Pineville – King shot an insane 66% from the field as a Sophomore and was second on her team at 16 points per game. She’s a good rebounder at 8.5 per game but needs to keep improving and should average a double double as a Junior.
Sidney Thomas, Covington Holy Cross – Thomas is the tallest player I know of in the state at 6’5 and she is a solid low post scorer at 55% shooting and 11 points per game. She has got to improve her rebounding but she has the size you just cannot teach.
Hallie Langhi, Marshall County – If you’re looking for upside and potential, Langhi may have the best in the state in 2022. Hallie has D1 genetics (her dad played at Vandy) and led the team in points and rebounds as a Freshman. She can even stretch the floor with her shooting.
Patience Laster, Franklin County – Patience has the skill level to score around the rim and is an above average rebounder. She is strictly a post player as she didn’t even attempt a 3 point shot in her freshman season for the Lady Flyers.
