The Lady Hornets are a team filled with electricity, including senior Owens. The West Texas A&M commit was electric in first half, often going coast to coast on rebounds or steals. Along with the outstanding speed, she’s quick and with great footwork to blow by defenders. She did most of his scoring in the opening half, but they were crucial in building a halftime lead. She had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

With an older brother who is a D1 DB, it shouldn’t be surprising that Owens has hops and can highpoint passes for steals. She did just that to seal a Tournament of Champions of victory, and does it regularly when the opposition underestimates her hops. Along with her ball hawking nature off the ball, she’s quick and disruptive on the ball. With feet just as quick as her hands. Has been a key part of a fierce Lady Hornet defense for years. And now has her eyes set on one more big steal. This time it’s for a Gold Ball, the Class 5A State Championship to be exact.

The 5’6 2025 point guard scored a game high 21 points and made four of her five attempts from long distance in BTW’s victory over Lutheran St Charles on the opening night of the event.

The speedy guard was once again a pest on defense. Picked up on the ball, harassing with quick hands and her even quicker feet. Based on the last two games, it looks like BTW trust her on taller, primary scorers. Trusting her speed and instincts to be disruptive.
Great anticipatory skills in the passing lane too. Mainly a defensive specialist, who also gets the Lady Hornets into their sets. But did a have nice 6 point scoring spurt in the third, where she hit a three. Then seconds later was fouled at the rim, where she converted the free throw for the And 1. The Lady Hornets are kinda nice, and one big reason is because Owens is nasty as a defender.

Owens only had 5 points but made some of the biggest plays in the fourth quarter. She was credited with 4 steals, including a game sealing steal and score in the close moments. That was a steal where she read the pass like a DB and high pointed it before racing away for the score. But she also has quick hands to makes plays when covering on the ball. Which included forcing a crucial jump ball late. Very clutch performance for the future West Texas A&M standout.

has committed to play college basketball at West Texas. To say Tierra is a up tempo guard is a understatement. This young can freeze her defense with a pause then blow by them for a layup. Nice open floor shooter that also can stroke the jumper off a ball screen. Great vision on the downhill drives looking for the score or assist. Keep an eye on BTW this season they have size and quickness.

A lighting quick guard that can push the ball up the floor in a hurry. The passes off the dribble in the open floor to a rim runner are on a rope and placed where they have to catch and finish, Great ball handles setting up the defender with a series of cross overs then quick explosion in the gap for the drive and finish.
Quick hands, great lateral footwork and low stance makes her a lockdown defender in the open court. Enjoyed watching her play this past weekend. She has received several offers ranging from all levels. I know my counter part Sam covered her in an article this weekend so check it out

As Team Griffin ‘s second game progressed, so did Owens. The lightning fast guard started to come more and more out of her shell. She played with good energy throughout, but smaller guards often need to play with emotion to support that energy. A big pull up three helped fuel some of that fire, as she flew around seemingly even faster on the defensive end. One of her older brothers had a similar “coming out of his shell” stage during 17U summer. That propelled him to an All State quality senior season. Perhaps Owens can reach new levels, especially as lead guards often need to be loud communicators on the court.

An even faster point guard from the 918 with a killer crossover, Owens was a blur who stirred the drink for her team in a good win. Her end to end speed makes her a transition terror, while also able to play under control with two foot stops and floaters in the lane. Following a strong run to the Class 5A semifinals, the change of pace guard’s arrow continues to point up.
