We have completed the portion of the season dominated by mid-season tournaments. With our calendars now set to January – and the year 2023 – region play is set to begin across South Carolina.

If one thought the level of competition across the Palmetto State was already high, it is about to get even higher as the first month of the season is a make or break month for many a team that has postseason aspirations.

That is where we at Prep Girls Hoops come in – to bring the most in-depth, complete coverage of high school girls basketball across the state. Without futher adieu, here is our top 10 list for Class 2A.

The War Eagles were tabbed as one of the 2A teams to beat this season – and so far, Gray Collegiate has lived up to that billing. The team is 9-4 and its resume includes victories over Orangeburg Prep (last year's 2A SCISA runner-up), A.C. Flora, Hartsville and Mauldin

Gray Collegiate boasts a stacked roster that includes [player_tooltip player_id='242933' first='Kadence' last='Walker-Lee'], who has averaged 9.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in 12 games. [player_tooltip player_id='471892' first='Alyssa' last='Woodlock'], a potent threat from deep, is averaging 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 steals. [player_tooltip player_id='185424' first='Jordan' last='Mintz'] has also tallying an average of 8.2 points in 13 games. [player_tooltip player_id='207409' first='Karlee' last='Phelps'] adds interior depth for the War Eagles as she has averaged 7.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
After several seasons in the 3A ranks (and winning state championships in those 3A ranks), the Raiders are back as a 2A team this season and have held their own throughout the first half of the regular season. They may be 5-5 but have played a tough schedule that has included victories over Military Magnet and Lower Richland.

The focal point of Keenan is [player_tooltip player_id='124104' first='Milaysia' last='Fulwiley'], who committed to South Carolina prior to the start of the season. The Raiders have also received worthwhile contributions from [player_tooltip player_id='124109' first='Tanaja' last='Kennedy'], who transferred from Cardinal Newman. [player_tooltip player_id='187999' first='Samaya' last='Johnson'], Tierra Griffin and [player_tooltip player_id='244740' first='Aiyo' last='Price'] are also among the names to look out for with the Raiders.

Silver Bluff (6-3)

Coach Chasen Redd's Bulldogs have become accustomed to playing in big games late in seasons and Silver Bluff appears poised to do that once again in 2022-23. Silver Bluff's 2022-23 has included victories over Barnwell and Spartanburg.

When thinking about unsigned seniors, there are not many that have displayed more impressive seasons than [player_tooltip player_id='175386' first='Aaliyah' last='Lawrence']. She was part of the 2020-21 Bulldogs rendition that earned a berth in the 2A state championship game. [player_tooltip player_id='243448' first='Ahminah' last='Taylor'] is a primary backcourt stalwart for Silver Bluff.

Andrew Jackson (6-5)

The Volunteers' run last season to the 2A state championship game may have been a glimpse into the future for many Palmetto State hoops fans. Andrew Jackson's season so far has included victories over Nation Ford and Fort Mill.

What makes the Volunteers a team of the future is how young its core is – including [player_tooltip player_id='496215' first='Ayona' last='Alexander']. Andrew Jackson's rising star big has averaged a double-double of 10.8 points and 11.8 rebounds in 10 games. Through those same 10 contests, [player_tooltip player_id='383418' first='Ni'yonna' last='Asbelle'] is averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds. By the Volunteers' current standards one may consider [player_tooltip player_id='395216' first='Emiley' last='McCall'] (a sophomore) a veteran. She has averaged 7.8 points, 4.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds. Trinity Delly, an eighth grader, has averaged 7.6 points and 2.5 steals per contest.

The Wolves are seemingly on their way to another impressive season after getting into the win column on 16 occasions in 2021-22. Timberland's signature wins of the season include defeating Denmark-Olar and Fort Mill.

When hoping to earn a victory over the Wolves, one must have to find a way to keep [player_tooltip player_id='158943' first='Amiyah' last='Ferguson'] in check. Ferguson is set to play her collegiate ball at Cal State-Northridge following this season. Timberland's impressive cast of characters also includes [player_tooltip player_id='262015' first='Da'sani' last='Kinlaw'] as well as [player_tooltip player_id='254257' first='Zion' last='Prioleau'].

With a 2022-23 campaign that, so far, has included victories over Chapin, Boiling Springs and Woodruff, the Cardinals have had an impressive start to a season where they are fresh off an Upper State Final bid from last season.

One of the reasons why earning a win over Landrum is no easy task is because of the play of [player_tooltip player_id='251758' first='Savannah' last='Brown'], Landrum's star center. The Cardinals have also received major contributions from [player_tooltip player_id='399239' first='Kaylee' last='Cortez'] and Sydney Price in the backcourt as well as Kylie Fortner, a freshman in her second season with the Cardinals.

Camera Goodwin is in her final season with the Wolverines and is poised to conclude her high school career on a high note. Another of Woodland's signature performers is [player_tooltip player_id='414001' first='Lyniah' last='Kitt'], who competes on the AAU circuit with Team USC Unleashed. Another of those key players is [player_tooltip player_id='299565' first='Kah'liyah' last='Geddis'].
