Jefferson has been a pure bucket getter since her freshman year and fittingly went out with a team high 18 points. She got her buckets in all her traditional ways. Mainly pull up threes and slicing through the defense off the bounce. She also grabbed 7 rebounds. Picked up tournament MVP honors to cap off her great week. Now a two time State Champion. She’s headed off to a college career of more buckets at Northern Colorado.

There’s a fair among of good scorers in Oklahoma. But few, if any can combine the skill level and bull mentality of Jefferson. She’s tough and skilled off the bounce. With a nifty floater/runner game, which allows her to avoid helpside defenders at the rim. And she can catch fire from beyond the arc. With clutch DNA, she’s earned offers from all over the country. With Wichita State being the newest program, offering her earlier this month.

After winning Class 6A as a sophomore, Jefferson has taken her game nation wide with GRIND Prep. She’s a skilled guard, with a strong off the dribble game. Plays off two feet, allowing her to be strong at the rim and finish through contact. Has a skilled mid-range game, with floaters or quick stop pull ups. Add in her range from deep and she’s a true three level scorer. Scoring machine who will find a home at the next level.

Jefferson has one of the most complete scoring games in Oklahoma. Gets downhill and lofts floaters over out stretched arms. Or stop on a dime, and drains the mid-range pull up. Showed off her deep range from that extends to a few feet. Even got her own miss on a three pointer that she realized was short. Scoring simply seems to be part of Jefferson’s DNA.

Da/Nae Jefferson comes in at #7 ranked overall but Ranked #1 overall at the Combo Guard position. A combo guard that can knock down the 3 or take you to the rim from 20 feet out. She does an excellent job of attacking her defender shoulder making her an excellent downhill driver.
Quick hands on defenses just waiting for the ball handler to leave it hanging for the steal. Great understanding on rotation defense resulting in a block or steal. A defense specialist that creates turnovers into points for her team. Earned Defensive district player of the Year and First Team All District. Da’Nae will be representing Grind Prep next season after capturing the title at Putnam City West the past season.

The Lady Patriot sophomore was simply a bucket in all three game. From the game changing second quarter run in the semifinals vs Owasso to the go ahead “Old Fashion three point play” in the final minute of the championship game, Jefferson made a loud impact on the Oklahoma basketball scene. She’s a crafty and skilled scorer, who plays under control on drives with two feet stops and a nice floater game that routinely scored over out stretched arms.
With clutch performances now decorating her resume, look for Jefferson to team with fellow big time Class of 2026 Putnam City West guard

The other half of the Lady Patriots second quarter explosion was the tough and skilled sophomore scorer, Jefferson. She would go on to have a game high 19 points, much of coming from downhill scoring where contact doesn’t bother her and she showed outstanding touch around the rim. Jefferson closed out the 24-2 second quarter for PCW with a corner three right before the buzzer sounded. Her mix of shooting and confidence off the dribble makes her a tough cover. Jefferson and company look focused to finish the job this year, after a tough semifinal loss to Edmond North last year.

The more I watch Da’Nae, the more I start to realize that she has a Division-I level game. Not only is her game D-I, her body is, as well. She is a tough, strong, 5’8″ player who goes hard all game long. As with a lot of young players, you can see her getting in her own head a lot, especially when calls are going against her team. I don’t usually mention things like that in my reports, but I say it here in hopes that word will get to Da’Nae. She is a slight step away from being in the conversation over the next few years of being one of the best players in the state of Oklahoma. What it will take is to look no further than to the senior leaders on her team and adopt some of their ego and mentality. Shamar and Caya are the example. Da’Nae has all of the skill and talent. When it all comes together, this whole state is in trouble.

Jefferson left me speechless with her numerous “no-look” passes on the money yet her court vision wasn’t the only thing that stood out in her game. Her pull-up jumper in transition was nice, so was watching her create her shot in the set and drop the mid to long-range jumper with a hand in her face. She also attacked the basket strongly from multiple angles, nice body control on her finishes, she hit the boards and played solid defense yet watching her play the passing lane JUST DID IT for me
