Coming into the 2019-20 season, Turner is hoping to be a top player in the 4th region and get Franklin-Simpson to a winning record. Hadley describes herself as “long and athletic. I play hard and give my all on the court. I am a good team player who finishes at the basket well and defends well.” It’s very early for Turner but she appears to have as good of upside as any 2023 prospect. The freshman forward told me her strengths are “rebounding, passing, being aggressive, free throws, and finishing around the basket. I’m a good defender as well.” Hadley also has identified some areas to improve her game. She told me, “My weaknesses as a player are my ball handling skills, and my perimeter shooting. I want to become a good 3 point shooter. I also need to improve on driving to the basket more”
After playing a smaller role for Franklin-Simpson as a 7th grader, Turner was the team’s leading rebounder and third leading scorer as an 8th grader. Hadley reflected on her season positively, “I had a good high school season. This was my second year of starting varsity. Even though our team didn’t win a lot of games, it was still fun. I made all district team for the 13th district. I had two 20 point games, and multiple double doubles. In the Rafferty’s Classic I won player of the game twice out of three games. Part of preparing for her freshman season is playing AAU this year. As part of Kentucky Premier King 2023, Hadley has helped Premier to a 10-4 record in three tournaments. Turner hopes to be a big part of a resurgence for Franklin-Simpson this season. She told me she has high hopes for the season ahead, “My goals for the upcoming season is to win the 13th district championship and make the 4th region tournament. Also, I want to make my teammates and myself better this season.” Showing maturity beyond her age, Hadley seems determined to be the best player she can be moving forward, “I’m not satisfied, I want to improve this year by getting more wins, and improving my overall game.” If her game keeps improving, the wins will come. And so will college interest and offers down the line.
