FRANKENMUTH VS. GOODRICH
Prediction: Goodrich
Frankenmuth has state title talent, there’s no doubt about that. That have a well rounded team that can attack in many different ways. Goodrich has their superstar and a cast of really talented players and up and coming prospects. This Goodrich team just has a championship feel to it right now.
Players to watch:
McLaughlin is a gamechanger in the backcourt. Goodrich will have to be very wary of her ability to both create and distribute the ball. McLaughlin is a versatile guard that can handle like a point as well as get buckets as a high level wing. Her basketball IQ might be her biggest strength of all.
It feels Place’s name is on paper every single day. If it is, she deserves it. If she’s hitting shots, this is a state championship team. I’ve been extremely impressed with her feel for the game and her shot selection throughout the playoffs. Place has had a knack for knowing when to get her teammates the ball and when to take it to her opponent and get a bucket.
GRAND RAPIDS WEST CATHOLIC VS. LANSING CATHOLIC
Prediction: Both of these teams are impressive to say the least. This one could come down to the final possession. I’m going to go with West Catholic because of their high skill, diverse skill sets and experience in the backcourt.
Players to watch:
Dykstra has been so good in the playoffs the last 2 years. She’s an elite guard talent that can take over a game in so many ways. She can go off and put 20 plus points as well as make sure that her teammates get the ball in scoring positions. Dykstra is incredibly efficient with the ball with very low turnover numbers.
Richards was absolutely incredible in her team’s win against a tough Westfield Prep team. She was very active on the glass and picked up some second chance and put back opportunities. Richards was able to stretch the floor with her jumper. If Richards is shooting like she did a few days ago, Lansing Catholic could be playing for a state championship.
