Continue ReadingThe Prep Girls Hoops Freshmen 50 – the first ranking of the Class of 2027 – will be published this fall shortly after the incoming 9th graders have had the opportunity to display their wares at our Freshmen Showcase event in September. Our goal at this time is to identify 20 key players in the class who bear watching more closely between now and then. Yesterday we brought you part 1 – the first five players – on the PGH 2027 Watch List. Today we offer you five more.
Just a reminder that all Prep Girls Hoops rankings are based on a player’s potential to be successful in college basketball. We do not measure current performance, although the two are intricately linked. Players are listed here in alphabetical order by last name.
Jersey Coleman Jersey Coleman 5'11" | PF Owatonna | 2027 State MN – forward, Minnesota Rise Busse
At 5’10 with a sizeable frame, Jersey is big and strong for her age, and she knows how to employ that innate advantage to great effect. Hailing from Owatonna, much has been expected from Coleman since our first viewing about two years ago. In the ensuing months, her skill level has risen substantially, she has grown into her body and become more mobile and agile. The experience Jersey has gained playing varsity basketball for the Huskies has been invaluable. She passes well, scores a lot, rebounds effectively and defends at a high level. There’s no telling yet just how good Coleman can be.
Ava Cupito Ava Cupito 5'10" | CG Hopkins | 2027 State MN – guard, Metro Stars 2025
Ava has been center stage for a good while now. Given her advanced physical development at an early age, and the high-profile platform offered by playing at Minnehaha Academy, Cupito has a long-established reputation as a highly-skilled and very versatile competitor. Playing up two years this spring, Ava has been a huge difference-maker for the Metro Stars. She’s strong and athletic, with an advanced set of tools that enable her to beat you any way you want. She’s vocal, has great court vision, and exudes confidence. Cupito is one of 2027’s very best.
Jazmin Daing Jazmin Daing 6'1" | CG Rochester JM | 2027 State MN – guard, FBC 2025 Mason
The lengthy guard from Rochester John Marshall has been on the 2027 radar for a long time. That’s no wonder given the obvious attributes she brings to the table from the moment you first lay eyes on her. Jazmin is an elite athlete. She moves very well, has excellent quickness and gets up and down the floor at a rapid pace. She can score off the bounce, off the mid-range pull-up or from the outside. Defensively, Daing’s length, leaping ability and innate sense of timing make her a great shot blocker and rebounder. She plays with no fear and regularly scores through contact.
Jaliyah Diggs Jaliyah Diggs 5'5" | PG Park Center | 2027 State MN – guard, E1T1 Queens
Size plays a big role in determining which players are likely to be successful at the next level, and at 5’4 Jaliyah has a ways to go in the growth department. That’s a fact, but the Park Center point guard more than makes up for her diminutive stature with a set of skills that is truly impactful. Much like 2025 standout Aneisha Scott Aneisha Scott 5'6" | PG DeLaSalle | 2025 State MN , Jaliyah has nice handles, quick feet and an explosive first step. She is able to beat most defenders one-on-one from either the left or right. She sees the floor well, distributes effectively and is not afraid to attack when the opportunity is there. She’s also a great defender and a ton of fun to watch.
Delaney Dumermuth Delaney Dumermuth 5'10" | SF Mahtomedi | 2027 State MN – guard/forward, Fury 2027 Blue
It’s not easy to describe the versatile performer from Mahtomedi. When you watch the U14 state champion Fury 2027 Blue in action, there are other players who’ll likely catch your eye first. As the game progresses, however, the 5’10 Dumermuth makes more and more of an impact on the eventual outcome. She is a highly-intelligent player and an intense competitor who is willing to do battle with all comers. She’s strong and athletic, but not fancy or flashy. She can also score but that is by no means a requirement for her to be successful. Delaney is a player with definite Top 25 potential.
