If not necessarily the fact that you can’t let Macy Meyer get hot. It’s the fact that even if she misses some of her attempts her or there, she is so fundamental in her movement that the next shot is still going to go up and it’s going to look really good coming off of her hands. I had my doubts about Meyer leading into this past season but she proved me wrong and showed everyone watching that she is a winner, through and through, and that she can lead a program when need be. Meyer wasn’t just a shoot this Winter though. She did it all for DCG as they made a star studded run to the 4A State Championships. She hit shots from deep, got to the bucket, found others at a high rate, rebounded, and defender her own position just as well. She is going to have one more chance to make some memories this next season with the Mustangs as a Senior. I’m sure she will return motivated so as long as everyone else can follow suit, who knows where things will take them.

Whenever you watch Macy Meyer Macy Meyer 5'7" | SG/PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 State IA play you notice that she does the simple things really well and that’s why it takes to compete at a D1 level. Meyer did a great job of making open shots last week around the outside, she attacked the middle of the floor when things opened up in transition, she was a willing passer off of the bounce when her teammates became more open, she rebounded at a constant rate, and she communicated well with all of those around her as things unfolded throughout a contest. I imagine that Meyer is going to play that 2/1 split once she gets to UNI but she still has a year to go so we will see. As for the season at hand Meyer locked in a spot on this All Tournament because she showed up each contest they played in all the way through the Championship. Hopefully she can play off of that momentum this AAU season on the road!

Meyer did played an overall efficient game in her team’s Round 1 win on Tuesday morning, showing off her D1 capabilities. In the first half she went 6 for 6 from the field, going 2-2 from the behind the arc and 3-3 from the floor on offense. She also defended at a high rate from the Wing position, which was nice to see. I’ve been very critical of Meyer in the past but today she did a great job of making all of her wide-open attempts, while always making the right play happen on either end of the floor. That will be an ability that will transfer to the floor at UNI next season. In the end, Meyer was the star performer of the game and named game MVP for her efforts. She put together a complete showing and I can’t wait to see how she builds on that moving forward this week.

Macy Meyer Macy Meyer 5'7" | SG/PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 State IA handled business on Tuesday as DCG moved to 3-0 to start off their Winter season in the 4A Class. The Mustangs are #1 in their Class for a reason. This is an equipped team that returns basically every key prospect from last Winter. They’re leader at the SG or Scoring Guard position being Meyer. Meyer registered 20 points on 6-15 shooting to lead the Mustangs and their defense did the rest. If you have been watching the DSM area the past few years you know that Meyer is someone that can score at every offensive level. She can shoot it off the catch, explode off the drive, or finish with something in the mid-range. She has some nights where she is unconscious and can’t miss. When that happens, it’s a pretty fun to watch. All in all, this won’t be the best performance by Meyer this season but it’s still one to note.

Macy Meyer Macy Meyer 5'7" | SG/PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 State IA is a college committed prospect that should lead DCG in a bunch of positive statistical categories this upcoming season. Meyer is a talented guard that understands how to score at a high rate, how to handle under pressure, and how to play off of the ball once she passes to her other teammates. In general, she really keeps it simple but she plays off of two feet and she is really crafty in all of her attempts. She understands how to play off of her pivoting well and that helps her get a lot of clean looks at the basket as a whole. The Mustangs always bring the fire and strategy to the hardwood so I’m expecting more of that this Winter with Meyer’s being their top dawg.

Macy Meyer Macy Meyer 5'7" | SG/PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 State IA has seized her opportunity and is now locked in to join the UNI Panthers for her college career starting in two years. Meyer, a 5’7 SG, is someone that has been a promising talent for a few years now. She has shown her promise on both the high school varsity floor and the travel floor with her AIA AAU team. Offensively, she has shown she can shoot it, she can get to her spots, and she can finish in a plethora of different ways at the bucket while attacking. Defensively, she holds her own. She isn’t a liability when motivated and that shows. It’s a ways away but I’m sure that Meyer is extremely excited to throw on the purple and yellow. Who wouldn’t be?!

MM received her first D1 offer a few weeks ago for her play on the AAU floor. Meyer, a 5’7 SG/CG, is a natural scorer of the basketball. Once she gets downhill, she is very tough to stay in front of while moving toward the basket. I have a feeling MM will help lead her DCG team to the 4A State Tournament this upcoming season. She demonstrated last year that she was a staple of this program and she is ready to turn it up even more over the next 12-24 months.

Macy Meyer of DCG is going to be a killer this season on the Varsity floor. Meyer is a guard that stepped up at the Varsity level and did some work but she is ready to take a huge step up this Winter. At the DCG scrimmage this past week, they competed against SEP and Meyer was a hands-down standout. She got to the rim at Will every time she attempts too, making it look incredibly easy on each drive into the middle against her defender. The Mustangs are going to come back this Winter with Meyer leading the charge in a sense. She is going to be one of their main producers, if not thee main producer once the dust settles at the end of the year.

Macy Meyer is going to be a vital piece to her DCG Mustangs process over the next three seasons if she has anything to do about it. Meyer has always showed promise on both sides of the floor and this Winter won’t be much different. She will be looked upon to make open jumpers and to get stops defensively on alike sized players. The Mustangs are going to bring their impressive system into each game and it’s going to get everyone some open looks in the grand scheme of things. Meyer is coming off of a respectable AAU season with her All Iowa Attack team and she is ready to ride for her Sophomore season.

I’m excited and interested to see the progression that Macy Meyer Macy Meyer 5'7" | SG/PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 State IA has made this offseason. Meyer was someone that got minutes last year as a Freshman as they made it to State. This year, her role should be a bigger one as they lose their main producers from the past few seasons. Meyer is an athletic guard, that can really light it up from deep with her jump shooting abilities. If she can compete off of that this upcoming Winter, she is going to thrive. I’m excited to see what she can do next week during this shootout for her team. I’m not sure if she will take charge and become one of their leaders or if she will be more of a role player. Either way, she will have a chance to kill it.
