We saw Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA natural ability up close this season as a main contributor within her DCG Mustangs program. Each night Jones came into ball-games playing her part. She never veered from the team’s objective while competing and she was very efficient as a player in general from all levels on both offense and defense. There weren’t many times that she made ill advised mistakes with the rock in her possession and that stood out to evaluators. It’s somewhat ironic because Jones just committed last night to compete on the Softball pitch for her collegiate future but I’m sure that she is still going to be a main part of her program’s team moving into the Winter of 2026 for her Senior season.

Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA is a shooting guard who is converting at a high level. Starting every game as a junior this year for Dallas Center-Grimes, Jones flaunts an impressive three-point percentage on the season (43%). If she is on her game during the State Tournament, I believe the Mustangs will be a tough out. DCG has a handful of players who can score the ball so if the defense slips up on their help side, you can count on Jones to hit her looks. She’s more than capable of hitting 3+ long balls per night, so keep your eyes on Jones to stretch the defense, drain some deep shots, and help create driving looks for her teammates in the process.

DCG has a number of talented guards on roster this upcoming season. One of their best shooters, that everyone should keep an eye on is Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA at their SG position. Jones was one of the more consistent players last season from deep while shooting over 100 attempts. Jones ended the year going 52/119 (43.7%). This is a really solid number in a competitive program. Most of these attempts did come off of the catch from their guard-play creating for each other. Which just speaks to how impressive their offensive system truly is year-in and year-out. Jones is going to have even more opportunities over the next 24 months. She just needs to stay prepared, so she doesn’t have to get prepared.

With the title of top shooting sophomore in the state last season, Dallas-Center Grimes shooting guard Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA is set for a big junior season. After shooting the long ball at a hot 47.6% clip I envision Jones’ role to continue to increase as a junior. Especially on a team with such wide-spread scoring as DCG, there will be plenty of opportunity for Jones to plague defenders from behind the arc this season.

Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA of DCG and the All Iowa Attack is going to have a chance to step up big time this Winter season with her Mustangs team because of their loss of production due to graduation. Jones took the floor and played some meaningful minutes last season on her team’s State Tournament run but that was just the tip of the iceberg. If Jones locks in and is used in the correct ways with the others around her on the court, she could really shine in any game she competes in. Her shooting stroke is fundamental and balanced, she has a smart head on her shoulders, and she doesn’t like to force shots/action. When you combined that all together, you get a recipe for success so I can’t wait to see what she comes up with moving int the near future.

Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2027 IA is going to have her chances over the next 3-4 years to be a standout player among her Mustangs team if she continues to get better this off-season. Prior to the year kicking off, I watched Jones compete a handful of times in summer competition and she was making things happen. She was playing her natural shooting guard position, scoring at high rates and getting others involved whenever she could. The key to Jones’s game is based on her confidence. When she is confident in everything she does, she makes things happen at a much higher rate compared to when she hesitates. Defensively, she didn’t do anything crazy but played efficient defense throughout the duration of an entire contest. This DCG Mustangs is coming off of a State Championship and they are looking in tip-top shape at this point in their season. It makes sense that they only have one Freshman consistently seeing the floor right now in close ball games. On a team that is currently the 4A State favorites once again, that is nothing to be ashamed of. The way I see it, Jones is going to get a lot of opportunities over the next few seasons.
