The do-everything point guard for coach Jadyn Ehresman was a go-getter in leading the Buffaloes to their second straight Fort Kearney Conference tournament title. In three contests for the Class D-1, No. 2 Buffs, she scored 38 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, dished out 20 assists and had 13 steals. On the season, she has averages of 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.8 steals per game. No player in the class may be more important to her team than Cavenee.

Elm Creek fell to Pender in their State Championship contest last season and they are now looking to build off of what they set in place during that run so that they can make it back for another State Title shot. The vital piece to this group this Winter will be PG –

. Not only is Cavenee going to return as their groups top scorer offensively, she is also returning as their top APG (Assist Per Game) player as well. Over the years this is someone that has thrived attacking off of the dribble and that won’t change moving forward but now I’m sure more teams will be locked in on Cavenee in their defensive game plan prior to tip off. If Elm Creek can respond to that in real team and make adjustments, they should put up some respectable victories once again this Winter.

Cavanee was a calm and cool ball handler and facilitator for the Buffaloes last winter as they advanced to the Class D-1 state championship game. She’ll be called on to be an even more dynamic scorer (12.5 points/game last year) this winter. Shined for her FKC Hoopers team this summer playing club basketball in Nebraska. Also a lethal defender with over 100 steals and plays with excellent vision offensively.

“Great touch, awareness of situations, and ability to adapt. She moves well for her size and can play on or off of the ball while still producing. She is pretty efficient with her back to the basket in the post but she doesn’t live on that. She can also step out and take things off the dribble if need be. Overall, she makes good choices and has a better than average skill set for her age. If she so chooses, she will have chances to play at the next level before her high school career comes to a close.”

is a talented prospect out of the 2027 Class and she has been vital in her team’s season this Winter. Cavenee would be considered a multi-talented guard, that can move and produce on or off of the basketball. She isn’t currently leading her team in PPG but she is in almost every other positive statistical category. With her mixture of talent, raw ability, and smarts – she makes for a tough guard in both the half or full courts. By the looks of it, Elm Creek should be favored to win this ball game. Anything can happen on any given day but if Cavenee plays to her best ability, they should be just fine. Tomorrow and moving forward into the Playoffs.

of Elm Creek High School. Cavenee is a player of opportunity. She works hard on both sides of the floor, while always making herself available to the play. In the few contests of Cavenee that I had the opportunity to watch, she was moving around the perimeter, making the most of her opportunities. In a program and on a team that prides themselves on playing TEAM basketball, they do have some players that standout above most. It was only Cavenee’s Freshman season so she is still very young but she has a base to build on. She put together a solid Freshman campaign and I hope that leads to to more successes in the near future.
