Expert Analysis

Another recent commitment for Wayne State out of the Nebraska area is Ansley Elofson of Fort Calhoun High School. Elofson is a 6’0 PF with some dominance and finesse by the bucket. Offensively, she is good at outworking those around her, she knows how to finish through contact, and she can attack from about 15FT away from the hoop. Defensively, she is can wall up the middle and control the pace of play, she rebounds at a steady rate, and she is very good at coming over from help-side to alter shot attempts when her teammates might happen to get beat. Overall as a player, there is a lot to like out of Elofson. She brings a lot of possibilities and options to the floor on both ends and that’s something you love to see.

The 6-foot junior had a huge week for the Pioneers as they won the Capitol Conference tournament and moved to 17-1 on the season. In the finals against Yutan, she scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and for the tournament she scored 59 points and hauled down 36 rebounds for coach Eric Jones. On the season, Elofson — who should be on a load of college radars — has averaged 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She hopes to lead the Pioneers to state for the first time since 2007.

Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE showed up in the second half on Saturday afternoon to help her Fort Calhoun secure a victory against a scrappy opponent. Elofson has height, lengthy arms, touch, and she loves physicality. That is a hard combination to stop on any floor when that player is motivated and Elofson was motivated to finish things off in this battle. She was relentless as she cleaned up everything between the blocks, which was too much to handle. Overall, this group should be tough to stay in-front of in the Post season in a month if they continue to play this way with Elofson at the helm.

The size, promise, and adaptability that Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE has demonstrated since she was a Freshman has been eye-catching and noteworthy. Elofson is listed at 6’0 and the #2 rated PF in the state of Nebraska for the 2027 Class at this time. AE doesn’t do anything flashy or kill you with crazy skill moves – instead she lets the game come to her and that makes everything seem effortless. She won’t be the one to run up bad shots or to not listen to the coach, while being pretty skilled with size on both ends of the floor. Thats really all you can ask for from an outside perspective. This is Elofson’s first D2 offer. Hopefully she can ride this momentum into another before the Winter season kicks off.

As of most recent, Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE of Fort Calhoun High School took a visit to D2 – Wayne State to see what’s up. Wayne State is just coming off of hiring a new coach out of Iowa with an impressive track record and he is recruiting the state of Iowa/Nebraska heavily to start off. Something you love to see. As for Elofson is the #2 rated PF out of this 2027 Class, coming into this Summer right over 6’0. Elofson has shown dedicated, a high motor, and some respectable skill for years now. If she continues with this, she will put up some noteworthy numbers her last two season of Varsity ball before taking her talents to college to continue on her basketball journey. Something that is more than do-able at this moment in time.

Fort Calhoun returns a good amount of prospects back from a year ago and they are ready to make some noise. Someone at their PF position, that has great size, wherewithal, and coordination is Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE . Elofson isn’t the type to lead her team in scoring each night but she will always contribute in a few positive ways. To kick off this Winter season, Elofson has been doing a little bit of scoring and rebounding but where she has stood out to myself is in the Blocks department. She is averaging nearly 2 Blocks per contest in their first few games and if that can keep up all Winter long, it’ll be noteworthy not only within her own program but from a state-wide point of view. She is consistently proving that she is someone opposing teams have to worry about in the lane and that weighs on others, much more than some might realize.

Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE of Fort Calhoun High School is someone to know if you don’t already. If you are familiar with this Class, you need no introductions. If not, Elofson is a Forward, that stands at 6’0 tall with a great mixture of physicality, size, touch, coordination, and grit. Last season she put the state on notice by having a great season with the Pioneers and she followed that up by having a great AAU campaign with her ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB team. The future is really bright for Elofson at this point in the process of things. She is putting up state recognized numbers during high school ball, meaningful numbers during AAU ball on a national circuit, and she continues to expand her abilities. If this keeps up, the sky is the limit but for now, she moves up to the #19 spot.

Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE showed more promise than expected as a Freshman on the Varsity floor at Fort Calhoun High School last Winter and I’m thinking that she is going to build on that big time in the near future. Elofson comes in standing at 6’0, she understands the game of basketball and situation ball placement, she is athletic and coordinated for her height, and she is as selfless as they come. She competed this AAU season with a nationally known program in the ETG Midwest Elite and I’m sure she will do the same this next season. If last Winter was any indication of what she is going to be able to become by the time she is an upperclassmen, than everyone should watch out cause she is going to be a handful to say the least.

One of the more promising talents that this group has to offer comes to us in the form of Forward, Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE . Elofson is a 6’0 Forward, that can pass, score, defend, and rebound with the best of them. She has a fundamental game but it’s crafty and somewhat tricky at times. She can shoot it from all three levels with a picture perfect shooting stroke, she can pass up the floor with her vision, and she make something happen out of nowhere when her team may need it. After studying this line-up, I would be surprised if Elofson doesn’t start. She has proven time and time again that she is the real deal when it comes to her play on the hardwood. I think that this player might be the hardest to pull off the floor at any given moment for this group. She truly can do everything at an above average rate and that’s going to be on full display all season long.

I would consider Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6'0" | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 State NE as a “glue” type player for whatever team she is lacing up with. She is going to have her big games in the Scoring department but a majority of the time she is going to Score, Rebound, Assist, and Steal the ball at an even rate throughout the contest. Whenever you consider a promising Freshman, you notice players that can score the ball at a high rate at the Varsity level but that doesn’t always translate. The prospects that have play-styles that work at the next level do more then just score and Elofson embodies that. Fort Calhoun has some producing underclassmen that are going to keep them relevant for the next few years. If they all continue to get better and stay in love with this sport, they could take things a long way. Both as a group and individually.
