Region MVP

Dycus - [player_tooltip player_id='804755' first='Halle' last='Kitchen'], ‘24, Cocke County – This was a tough one, but I had to go with the top player on the top team. Kitchen led Cocke Co. to a district championship and a return to the state tournament. She was their PG, led them in assists, guarded the other team's best player, and averaged 9 points a game.

Dycus' Runner Up - [player_tooltip player_id='410171' first='Jordan' last='White'], ‘25, Northview Academy – The best player on Northview Academy, who had a really nice season. Team team fed off her ball movement and style of play.

Meade: [player_tooltip player_id='245366' first='Josie' last='Horner'], ‘25, Northview Academy- The walking double-double that is taking her talents to Tusculum University. In my opinion, Tusculum is getting a steal and one heck of a post player!

Region's Most Improved Player

Dycus - [player_tooltip player_id='816656' first='Addi' last='Gamble'], ‘26, Clinton – Turned herself into a consistent 2 way player for the district champs. Contributed to winning on both ends, battled on the glass, and averaged 14 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='409038' first='Kelsey' last='Holt'], '25, Union-- Turned herself into one of the top 3 and D wings in her class. You know exactly what you're getting from her night to night. Ultra consistent.

Blakelyn Clevenger, ‘26, Cocke Co – One a team that went to the state tourney without a “big time” individual scorer, the sophomore came up clutch time and time again. She averaged 9 points a game, putting her up there as part of the 3 headed monster of Kitchen, Carmichael, and Clevenger. Put up a few big scoring nights, and became a real threat from behind 3 by the end of the season, knocking down 44 threes.

Dycus Runner Up -

[player_tooltip player_id='405706' first='Reagan' last='Brown'], ‘24, Northview Academy

Meade:

Konner Hutson, ‘25, Scott High School- Hutson has improved in all aspects of her game. She rebounds exceptionally well and she finishes excellent around the rim! She has improved her footwork, and this 5'11 post is one to keep your eyes on.

Shakyra Reed, ‘25, Cocke County - When I first read a clip about Reed playing after the loss of her mother; I thought WOW! What a testament to this young ladies' strength. She is incredibly fast and she makes anyone that she is defending work! Keep your eyes on this one for her senior year. She keeps improving in all areas!

Region's Freshman of the Year:

Dycus:

Carmine Karmicheal, ‘27, Cocke County – She's the easy choice in this one. Was dominant at time in the season, and there were times in the District, Regions, and State tourney that she looked like the best player on the floor. She's got a HUGE upside.

Meade:

I wrote on X on 11/4/23, “Found a new ‘27 to put on my radar and I loved every bit of her game.” That freshman was [player_tooltip player_id='821821' first='Karmine' last='Carmichael']. The young freshman filled up an entire stat sheet that day, and she continued to do so through her entire freshman year.

Region's Players to Watch Next Season

Dycus:

[player_tooltip player_id='409077' first='Bailey' last='Burroughs'], ‘25, Clinton – The 5'10 junior turned herself into a high efficiency scorer around the rim while also being a big time rebounder for the district champs. She still has another notch on the ladder she can climb skill wise.

Dee Williams, ‘25, Fulton – The 6'0 post is full of athleticism and became a defensive nightmare this season. If she can add some layers to her offensive game, she's a collegiate level player.

Meade:

Lanee Carmicheal, ‘26, Clinton- The 5'10 sophomore is going to turn heads again next season. Lanee had an incredible sophomore season where she was dominant in numerous games. Carmichael is tough in the paint area and she can step out and knock down outside shots consistently!

[player_tooltip player_id='409038' first='Kelsey' last='Holt'], ‘25, Union County- The 5'9 shooting guard is exactly that. A good shooter! Holt is a streaky shooter that you do not want to let get hot from outside the 3 point line. Holt's passing, footwork, and ability to attack the rim has turned into a mult-deminsional scoring threat. This one will have a breakout senior year!

Brittany Morrow, ‘25, Scott - This 5'10 guard is flying under too many radars. I called her one of the swiss army knives. That's exactly what she is too. Trust me, Morrow is going to have an amazing senior season!

Region's Most Fun Team To Watch

Dycus – Cocke County did everything right, and did it with a “we over me” mentality. They went to state with leading scorers averaging 11, 9, and 9. They scored by committee, and hung their hats on defense. It was gritty, team-first, defensive oriented basketball….and I loved it!

Meade: We can't disagree with the magical run that Cocke County had! Cocke County was my favorite team to watch. Coach Bible came in and every single player respected him. He had the team that would run through a brick wall for one another. Every single girl from the ones cheering on the bench, to the ones getting playing time made this team what it was. A great team and a fun one to watch! Cocke County earned the entire state's respect! I absolutely loved watching this team!
