She isn’t the tallest, she isn’t the strongest, she isn’t the quickest but she is still going to dominate her matchup. Offensively, she knows how to use her body angles really well as she attacks down hill and she is smooth enough to counter whenever she is cut off. Defensively, she is scrappy with her active hands and first step movement towards the rock. When you combined those together you see a lot of promise out of the Sophomore. She helped lead Treynor to a State appearance this season and I’m sure that will be the case once again next season.

The sophomore guard has had another solid season this year, proving her consistency while helping the Cardinals to a 21-2 record. Treynor High collects contributions from a number of different athletes and Mauer is in the mix at the top. She’s averaging 11.1PPG, 4.1RPG, 1.9APG and 2.8SPG this year while scoring at almost 50% of her field goal attempts. Coming off a huge regional final game where she finished with 17 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, and 6 steals, Addy is playing great hoops when her team needs it most. I think Addy has what it takes to be Treynor’s difference maker during their State Tournament run.

Treynor is a household name in Iowa, who always has some ballers on hand on their roster. She communicates at a high rate, she works hard on both ends of the floor to be an example for others, and she never gives up on a play or situation. You can tell that her teammates follow what she is doing to a T and that helps them win along with their systems on both sides of the ball. Mauer led this group to another victory last night while holding her own. Nothing new. She did her thing and her team put her in favorable positions so make plays, which helped them seal the W in the very end.

Mauer demonstrated that she has a great feel for the game for her age. She is someone that rebounds hard, she gets her hands on tips/defections consistently, & she makes the others around her better overall as competitors because of her firey energy. Mauer should be the young producer this Winter for this program. If she builds off of what she put into place last Winter, she should put up numbers on numbers as the Winter continues forward.

Another GREAT game on Friday night will be between Treynor High School (19-3) and Shenandoah High School (20-2). This game will take place at Treynor, giving them a nice home court advantage. This game is going to come down to two things. First being can Treynor slow down Lynnae Green Lynnae Green 6'2" | PF Shenandoah | 2025 State IA . Second being can Treynor have some consistent production after they do slow down Green. With the second factor, someone that I’m looking to make a big stamp on this game for the Cardinals is Addison Mauer Addison Mauer 5'7" Treynor | 2028 IA . Mauer has been the Freshman that has stepped up to lead this Winter for her program. She might not be the team leader in anything statistically necessarily but she has demonstrated that she is the team’s future so if she can put together a big game offensively, this could turn into a barn-burner before you know it.

Every time she laces up her kicks, she locks in mentally and focuses on the little things. Those little things add up to make big things in the end and that’s where she makes her mark. I’ve mentioned Treynor High School recently because they always put together great seasons as a whole and I expect this Winter to be no different. They will have 2 or 3 prospects coming in from the 2028 Class that could be collegiate level prospects before you know it. If they incorporate that into their well oiled systems, they should continue to shine like we anticipate. Mauer included in that conversation.
