Alayiah can control stretches of the game with her quickness and decision-making. She delivered a sharp touch pass to Joba for a bucket, scored on a runner, attacked off the bounce, and knocked down a three to keep the Lakers within striking distance. Tasked with guarding Sharpe for much of the night, she competed defensively while still creating offense. As a lead guard, her pace and ability to score or facilitate give her traits that can translate to the next level.

Add in her ability to slash to the rim with a quick first step, crafty finishes, and the strength and grit to finish through contact, and you have a complete two-way threat. If defenses decide to double her, she’ll make them pay by finding open teammates, threading the needle, and dropping pinpoint dimes.

Johnson enters the season ranked #22 among point guards in her class. In the open court and in transition, she’s a show-stopper—don’t get caught on your heels guarding her, or she’ll blow by you and finish through the foul for an and-one. Expect Johnson to play a major role in helping her team compete for the 3A state championship.

At the FABC Showcase she illustrated ball handling skills and showed her ability to score the basketball. On the defensive end Johnson is athletic and has the speed to cover fast and more physical guards. She is at her best in the open court.
