Ally is a smooth operator while on the court. When she has the ball in her hands she is able to explode to the rim and she is also able to stop on a dime and use her pull up jumper. She is effective going either way and looks good doing it. Smith also displays a good feel for the game when she doesn’t have the ball in her hands. She moves to the open areas and finds ways to be a threat cutting without the ball.

Ally is a smooth silky player with the ball in her hands. She glides through the paint area attacking the rim and has scored before you know it. She also has a nice mid-range game off the bounce. Her high IQ helps her make quick and savvy decisions away from the ball. She will set her defender up one way and cut the opposite for easy back door layups.

There are not many awards Ally did not receive this season. She was named Third Team All State, 5A Player of the Year, 1st Team All-District. Most Outstanding Player at State Championships and received Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Award. She is a standout guard who dominated all season with her high IQ, leadership, and elite skill level. She has committed to High Point University.

Ally Smith Ally Smith 5'9" | CG North Lincoln | 2027 State NC was moving all over on the offensive side of the court even getting offensive rebounds to put back up for her team.  She did well attacking the basket with her ball handling making the dish to the perimeter for the shot.  She ran the floor being ready to score in transition.  She even handled her own on the block protecting the basket from a post player grabbing rebounds and using her length to cause some problems.  She was getting her hands in the way anticipating what her opponents would do.

Every point and every play mattered in such an evenly-matched contest – and the 16 points that were placed on the scoreboard by the Knights’ star junior was no exception. Smith’s stellar performance earned her team the 5A state title and herself West Most Outstanding Player recognition. She would play all 32 minutes and also grabbed seven rebounds – including four on the offensive glass. Smith was as much a facilitator as she was a scorer as evidenced by the seven rebounds she dished out. She also collected five steals and rejected a pair of shots. Smith is one of seven juniors on this season’s team. 

Ally Smith Ally Smith 5'9" | CG North Lincoln | 2027 State NC had the first make for her team knocking it down from deep, and honestly I don’t think anyone was surprised she started the scoring off for her Knights team.  She had a quick close out on the perimeter blocking the shot and coming down with the steal.  She knew when to take the ball all the way to the rim herself or make the dish to her teammates.  She even had a nice old fashioned three point play attacking the basket taking it coast to coast.

Ally has already verbally committed to High Point University which is a great fit for her. If you watch her play in the high school ranks and then watch High Point play at the collegiate level they go hand in hand. Ally is a smart high IQ player that can score off the bounce and create her own shot but also does a great job of moving without the basketball. Her backdoor cuts led to two points and often even three points the old-fashioned way because she knows how to use and angle her body to finish with contact. She also has deep range behind the three-point line, so she is difficult to guard.

Ally Smith Ally Smith 5'9" | CG North Lincoln | 2027 State NC made her name immediately known attacking the basket banking it off the glass creating her own open lane.  She did well battling through contact, and getting to the rim off her behind the back dribbles.  Her backdoor cuts off the ball were so effective getting to the basket.  She took full advantage of steals she got picking the pocket of her opponents and taking it the other direction even making an old fashioned three point play.

Ally Smith Ally Smith 5'9" | CG North Lincoln | 2027 State NC is another athlete whose phone has certainly been ringing from college coaches.  Not only does she have talent to perform well each time she steps on the court, but she maintains the right composure throughout each game knowing exactly how to make the right play.  She’s an excellent ball handler facilitating offensive sets knowing how to create open lanes for her and her teammates.  She’s a sharp shooter from deep, too, making her a multi-level threat.  On defense, she’s effective using her IQ to jump in front of passing lanes to grab steals.

Ally Smith Ally Smith 5'9" | CG North Lincoln | 2027 State NC was constantly grabbing steals picking the pocket of her opponents or sliding into the openings just in time to push it the other direction.  She even slid down to the block grabbing steals.  She makes perfect passes up the court hitting her teammates’ hands in transition for some points.
