Expert Analysis

Lydia showed she has a beautiful shot from beyond the arc. Coaches were “oohing and aahing” in admiration of the way she shoots the ball. Cipriano has next level length as a perimeter player. The more she can work on her agilities and quickness on the defensive side of the ball she will become an even more dominant force. Her future is definitely bright!

hit her shot from deep moving to the opening as her teammate drove and made the pass to her. She ran the floor well being able to catch the pass and make the adjustment running full speed to score her points. She had some tough takes late in the game driving to the basket not backing down from contact and earning some trips to the free throw line. She hit a couple of big time three pointers late in the fourth quarter trying to put the game away.

Cipriano not only lifted her North Lincoln bunch to the victory on Saturday afternoon but also added Kay Yow Most Valuable Player honors to boot. Cipriano would conclude her afternoon with a 15-point performance that also saw her grab five rebounds. One of only two sophomores on this season’s Knights team, her performance also included three steals as well as a pair of rebounds. What got Cipriano MVP honors was connecting on the two most important buckets of the game. With the contest tied at 56, Cipriano was true on two free throw tries to put a “Lyd” on Saturday’s state get-together.

was constantly moving on the court relocating after the pass and finding her open teammates. She was handling the ball well herself getting to the paint and pulling up quickly for the jumper. She crashed the boards grabbing rebounds on both ends. She protected the basket coming up with a big block as her opponents tried to drive against her. She had no problem taking the ball coast to coast grabbing a rebound and scoring on the other end.

A high-level perimeter player that has great length on both sides of the ball. Her size allows her to block a lot of shots around the rim and contest a lot of perimeter shots. Offensively, Lydia has gotten better off the dribble. She attacks hard and changes speeds to create shots getting to the paint for lay-ins or pull up jumpers. She is a deadly shooter from beyond the arc and has a sweet stroke.

is one who knows how to truly square up on each side of the court. She faces her opponents head on being ready to block shots from anywhere on the court. She knows how to make her adjustments as she goes up for her shots, too. She reads the floor well knowing how to find the opening, especially around the perimeter putting some range on her shooting ability.

came right in as a freshman ready to contribute. Her height helps her be an asset all over the court. She’s quick on her feet being able to close out around the perimeter blocking shots on defense. On the other end, she can elevate over her opponents knocking down her shot from deep, and she’s patient letting plays develop when handling the ball at the top of the key.

Cipriano, at the end of last month, scored her first collegiate offer when it was announced that the College of Charleston had her on its radar. One can be certain it will be far from her last. She put together a breakout freshman season in 2024-25 – one where she averaged 6.7 points, five rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She was one of the leaders on last year’s North Lincoln team in rebounding, steals, blocks and 3-point percentage. Cipriano played a massive part in why the Knights – who are moving up from 3A to 5A – finished with a 29-2 record – and those lone two losses were against teams in Lake Norman and Stuart Cramer that played in championship games at Wake Forest last season.

is already an incredibly versatile athlete. Her height allows her to make some moves in the paint to score points, and her movements around the perimeter are always an asset for her team. She’s quick and uses her length to close out on shots when playing defense. She moves well knowing what her teammates are going to do leaving her defender to get around the perimeter and knock down her shot from three.

was moving well finding the openings on offense, and she had a nice three point play finishing at the free throw line. She did a good job finding her teammates flashing in the paint. She was patient letting plays develop knowing when to hit her teammates. She has some nice range with her shot hitting it from deep.
