About Asha
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My game is versatile and team-first. I take pride in being someone my coach can rely on in any situation, whether that's locking down defensively, making smart decisions offensively, or bringing consistent energy and effort. I play with a high IQ, stay focused, and I'm always looking to do the little things that help my team win. I'm coachable, quick to learn, and I compete with intensity.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I bring a competitive, team-first mindset and a genuine love for the game. I play to win and stay ready to do whatever my coaches ask of me. At the same time, I bring a lighthearted, caring, and supportive energy to my team. I care about each person I play with, no matter where I am.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I've reffed youth boys and girls basketball games for my local elementary school, which has helped me develop leadership and communication skills. I've also been a member of Theater Squared's Teen Council for three years, performing in productions such as Twelfth Night (Viola/Cesario) and Macbeth (Cathness), and assisting with their annual Spring Gala. I also play classical guitar.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I've developed strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through both sports and other activities. Reffing helped me build confidence, make quick decisions, and keep composure. Theater and choir have strengthened my ability to communicate, adapt, and work closely with a team. Overall, I've learned to stay disciplined, support others, and contribute in whatever way helps us succeed.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
As a homeschool athlete, I challenged myself and asked to try out for a local high school team where the girls had years of experience together. I quickly adapted, learned the system, and earned a spot on the team. During that season, I tore my meniscus and needed surgery. The recovery pushed me both physically and mentally, but it strengthened my resilience, discipline, and determination.
What type of college are you looking for?
I would like a college environment that is competitive, supportive, and values strong team culture. I appreciate being around people with different perspectives who are respectful and work well together. Academically, I'm still exploring my path, but I'm interested in schools that offer strong programs in business/entrepreneurship and creative fields, so I have the opportunity to grow in both.
