As she so often does, Brynteson left it all out on the floor on Sunday. The 5’11 guard was a pest on defense, using her bounciness and quick feet to create pressure on the perimeter, and using her physicality to bump opponents off the line on drives to the basket. On numerous occasions Ava turned her defense into offense. On one possession, after her team had just scored a basket, she stole the ball off the inbound and laid it in for an easy two points. Following the graduations of a plethora of seniors, we suspect that this could be a breakout year for the Prior Lake junior.

We received an introduction to the Prior Lake sophomore last fall at the PGH Freshman Showcase. We were impressed with her game at the time and in the past 12 months she has made some big leaps in her strength, skill, and assertiveness. Brynteson excelled in both the 3 x 3 and 5 x 5 games on Sunday, taking ownership of the court right from the tip. Throughout the day Ava showed off the variety of ways she can attack the basket, utilizing her footwork, ball handling, and ability to absorb contact to finish around the rim. Brynteson has also physically matured quite a bit and looks a whole lot stronger. All this considered, Ava will look to crack the strong varsity rotation at Prior Lake this winter.
