About Breckin
Expert Analysis
Ally McGinnis | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Well-known for her consistent, unwavering effort level on the court, Whynott has a unique style of play. She focuses heavily on the details, such as a screen away from the ball or a backdoor cut to get her team’s offense flowing. The 5’11 forward stays in a powerful stance on defense, where she not only takes away the rim from her opponent, but uses constant communication to help her teammates out on the perimeter. Her physical strength and the bounce in her step elevate Breckin’s game tremendously, allowing her to guard a wide variety of players. On the other end of the floor the Woodbury senior keeps things simple. Whynott looks for smart passes, easy open looks, and second chance scoring opportunities on the offensive glass.

Whynott was one of the most impactful performers at the PGH Expo. The 5’11 forward plays with seemingly endless amounts of energy, and consistently makes big plays by sheer force of will. Breckin is relentless on the glass and in loose ball situations, out-runs defenders in transition, and scores plenty of points by simply staying ready. The Woodbury junior seems to have made big improvements in her ball handling over the summer, allowing her to attack the basket much more effectively. As a major stock riser in the 2027 class, don’t be surprised if Whynott has a breakout season with the Royals.

#97 – The Woodbury guard is one of the most intriguing newcomers in the Class of 2027, a natural athlete who has size, length and high-revving motor that gives her a distinct competitive edge over the vast majority of opponents. Breckin is a raw talent who has the potential, with the right training and commitment to the game, to be molded into a strong collegian. We love her vocal leadership on the court, her aggressiveness and disruptive presence on defense. She’s quick and athletic and is a relentless ball hunter. This is a player that could make her way up the rankings in the years ahead.

When we discovered Breckin at Crossfire’s Battle on the Hardwood tournament in June, we were inspired by her sheer effort level and raw talent. When we watched her at Sunday’s Sophomore ID Camp, we were impressed by just how much she has improved over the past few months. Whynott was relentless as she constantly hunted the basketball and went on the attack. She was vocal and physical and entirely disruptive on defense. With quick movements and great anticipation, she was making life miserable for opposing ball handlers. At 5’11, with long arms and a motor that never stops, Breckin has a very bright future ahead. She is a potential gem currently in the process of being polished.
