Newsom was also key in her squads UIL 6A Division 1 State Championship knocking the down clutch free throws, finishing 11/14 from the line yet her MINDSET on both ends of the court is huge because she can change the momentum of a game from either end see evaluations here

Newsom is a force around the basket, either scoring, rebounding, or defending, and since she’s “long and athletic” and elevates over defenders, her turnaround jumper was sweet. Her defense was solid, and so was her timing to block shots

Newsome is strong and powerful, and standing just shy of “the magic number” she can grab rebounds and go coast to coast to score or dish. Her on-the-ball pressure helps to create turnovers, yet she can also defend inside the paint. She has good timing to block shots, she scores off the dribble, and can drop the jumper

Newsome does so many things that may not show up on a score or stat sheet, yet her energy on both ends can change the momentum in the blink of an eye. She was another player who went after everything off the rim, but seeing her attack the basket to score or dish was nice, so was her “on the ball” pressure baseline to baseline

#20 up from #31 Newsom is in a uniqe position after moving up 11 spots, why, because her upside is untapped and I can see her taking another big jump. To be honest, her performance at the TABC Showcase, Just Did It for me and showed her all-around game, as well as falling into that never takes a play off group see evaluations here

Newsome and Simpson form one of the best twosomes in the region, and after getting a better look at her at the TABC Showcase, see evaluation here, nothing she does will surprise me because her upside hasn’t been reached. She falls into that “never takes a play off” group, and she can score inside the paint over taller players; she also rebounds over them, or she can drop it off the dribble as well as from outside. Her defense inside and outside the paint needs to be mentioned as well

#31 up from #93 Newsom makes the largest jump on the list, and to be honest with you, after what I saw at the TABC Showcase, she might crack the Top 20 pretty soon. She’s strong, powerful, plays hard on both ends, and falls into that “never takes a play off” group see evaluations here

Newsom gave me my first good look at her live, and all I can say is that she will be making a GIGANTIC jump in next month’s updated rankings. She was relentless on the boards, aka goes AFTA everything, and seeing her score around the basket after contact was nice, so was her doing it off the dribble. Her defense inside and outside the paint was solid, and so was her timing to block shots

Long and disruptive on the perimeter, Newsom she used her length to block shots in space and apply constant pressure as an aggressive defender. Offensively, she made smart, timely cuts that led to and-one finishes at the rim. Her two-way presence made a major impact on both ends of the court.

Newsome played a huge part in her Summer Creek team winning the 6A-D1 State Championship and for that, she was named to the All-Tournament team I caught her at Texas Jamboree see evaluation here late last year and I was impressed with her “on the court” progression but with her tough defense as well as BATTLING for everything off the rim, all of that played a part in her transformation
