About Evelyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay is defined by speed and quick plays. I excel in the paint and on the perimeter, driving to the rim and finishing plays. I capitalize on rebounds and steals.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe that it is important to keep playing and leaving everything on the court. Keeping our heads up and turning the page when things go wrong is very important to who I am. I focus on keeping everything going forward. I can’t change the past, but I can keep moving to the next play. I want to keep the love of the game as I grow. Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an active member of the Sources of Strength program at Greendale, where I work alongside my peers to foster connections among students and create a safe and supportive environment. Also, I participate in the student equity team and contribute to our school news program, GTV. Volunteering with the LEOS during village events is another way I stay engaged in my community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I learned a lot of leadership skills during my time as the president of Greendale NJHS and as a soccer captain for my team for two years. Those experiences taught me the importance of communication, confidence, and teamwork. As president, I was never alone in planning or working; my fellow members were always there to collaborate and build ideas with me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

For the first time in my life, I did badly on a math test. That moment made me realize that it was okay to fail, but what you do after is what matters. I took ownership and worked with my teacher and my parents to find what I was missing and move forward.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to go to a college where I can get a solid education and play basketball.
