Gabrielle Matthews is a talented guard who makes those around her even better. She can shoot the three, she can score in the midrange, and she pushes the basketball in transition for the Lady Gaters. Matthews is a strong player with the ability to get to the foul line multiple times per contest. She does more than score, however. Matthews is a strong rebounder and outstanding defender as well.

Gabby Matthews does a nice job using hesitation moves to get by her defender and score some points at the rim. She doesn’t back down from contact making it count when needed. She sees the floor well finding her open teammates up the court hitting them in stride for their own points. Her screens were incredibly effective coming right to her opponent letting her teammate move past her with an open look.

Gabby Matthews had a nice old fashioned three point play attacking the basket and scoring through contact. She continued to attack the basket hitting the reverse layup scoring with ease along the baseline. She can score on all levels of the court, and she is quick to make her move with and without the ball to get the open look.

Matthews is slowly but surely working her way off the Watch List for Rolesville High as we head into another basketball season. She’s another guard who’s been a terror in the Lady Rams backcourt alongside Jones. She averaged 12.4 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.9 APG and 1.3 SPG, filling the void on the rebounding front and showing her prowess as a scoring presence in the painted area. She’ll look to increase her production and stock heading into her junior season.
