Once the action started, Gill showed why. As the Sharks prepare for the post-Audrey Beyer era, Gill and company once again looked like a team that could be a force by the end of next season. Gill has the athleticism and versatility to impact the game in a variety of ways. She can get to the rim, score from the perimeter, and create for teammates when needed. Her skill set allows her to play the point, shooting guard, and even spend time on the wing. Defensively, Gill is equally impressive, creating havoc on the ball while using her speed, anticipation, and length to disrupt passing lanes, generate deflections, and turn defense into offense. Gill is one of the hottest young recruits in the state, and the UNF offer was the third one in the last few weeks.

Naomi cracked the Top 10 in the latest update after an impressive spring playing up a class on the P24 circuit with one of the top 16U teams in the state. She carried momentum from a strong finish to her freshman season and looks poised to step into an even larger role moving forward. Naomi’s motor and athleticism make her a difference-maker on both ends of the floor while allowing her to impact games in a variety of ways beyond the box score. Her continued development and productivity have not gone unnoticed, and she’s recently earned offers from High Point and NC A&T. With her combination of athletic tools, competitiveness, and upward trajectory, Naomi has firmly established herself as one of the top prospects in Florida’s 2029 class.

Naomi consistently found ways to impact the game on both ends of the floor and seemed to make a big play whenever TC needed one. Her instincts stood out defensively, highlighted by a steal where she jumped a passing lane by reading the ball handler’s eyes and the action developing away from her assignment. Offensively, her quickness, speed, and explosive first step allowed her to get downhill and create advantages against nearly every defender she faced. Once in the paint, she showcased a variety of finishes, whether it was a runner, playing off two feet, or finishing with either hand around the basket. She also competed at a high level defensively, applying pressure on the ball and even coming up with a few blocks. Her ability to influence the game in so many different ways made her one of the most impactful young prospects I evaluated throughout the day.

In a game where the youngsters on both teams made splashes, Gill’s fourth quarter made huge waves. At times the freshman took over primary ball-handling duties and was a catalyst late in the game. She attacked downhill, got to the rim repeatedly, knocked down a pull-up jumper, and finished a smooth reverse layup in traffic. Defensively she added steals that helped keep the opponent at bay. What stood out most was her poise — she didn’t play like a freshman. Her quickness, first-step, and scoring ability became a matchup problem down the stretch. Speed and heart don’t carry a class designation and Gill’s performance reminded everyone of that.

She knocked down a smooth pull-up jumper, pushed in transition, and attacked the rim with both her left and right hand. Even with the game on the line, she stayed in attack mode and refused to quit, helping cut the lead. As the youngest player on the floor in the final minutes, Gill looked like a seasoned veteran. Simply put, the freshman has ice water in her veins and was a Difference Maker in crunch time.

Naomi debuts at No. 12 as one of the most high-impact freshman in the state that is fortunate enough to play with some fantastic upperclassmen that push her daily. She has shown solid shot creation, scoring from all three levels, and the ability to finish through contact when getting downhill with control. Comfortable at both guard spots, Gill plays with control, feel, and a mature understanding of the game beyond her years. Her defense stands out as well, using quickness and strong lateral movement to disrupt opposing guards. With her versatility, skill set, and high upside, Naomi has a strong chance to climb these rankings as her career progresses.

I sat with a college coach who understood why her coach would run isolation plays with the young guard. Gill hit from the top, the elbow, took the opponent to the rim and scored in the paint. One play that comes to mind was a penetration move into the paint, then a jump stop, head fake, and a spin followed by the left hand (off-hand) finish. Gill showed why she is one of the top Freshman on not just the First Coast, but in the State of Florida. Her defense was also on point- showing quickness, cutting off driving angles, and showcasing excellent lateral movement as she wreaked havoc on opposing guards. Gill delivered an impressive performance in her very first high school tournament. A Statement was made- and with an exclamation!

She didn’t dominate, but she proved she can play both the one and the two effectively. She got to the rim going left and right, finished through traffic, and showed a beautiful pull-up jumper—plus a few clean makes from behind the arc. Gill’s upside is off the charts. She’s already good and she’s going to get even better. The young and versatile guard is poised to have a special season.

Naomi already has some hype around her game and she hasn’t even officially touched a high school court. She’s in a great situation to learn from some upperclassmen that have been there, done that. Her size, speed, and handles are going to elevate this Tocoi Creek team to the next level with all they return. It should be a really fun year for Naomi and the Toros!
