The big number that stands out from Gabriela Pedroso last season is how often she got to the free throw line. Pedroso only started two games throughout last Winter yet she had over 50 free throw attempts, meaning that she got to the line each game, more than most. She was never afraid of getting hit once she got downhill and that stood out to everyone watching. This Winter Washington will need other guards to step up with who they just graduated and I think Pedroso is one of those guards. She has shown promise up until this point and I don’t expect that to slow down for her Senior year.

. I loved Pedroso’s energy — she didn’t back down from the challenge and made things difficult for Dill (and the rest of Kennedy’s players) down the stretch. On the ball and as a help defender, Pedroso remained in solid position and flashed quick hands for steals and kick ahead buckets. Gabriela is a great example of a player that doesn’t need to be the team’s top scorer to affect the outcome of the game — her tenacity and grit on the defensive end directly led to Washington winning tonight.

There are some players out there that you would consider a “Swiss-army knife” type. This means the player is versatile. They can move around to multiple positions, all while yielding positive results in one way or another. That’s how I would describe Gabi Pedroso of CR – Washington. Pedroso has decent height for her age so that she can beat her defender with length offensively or she can switch between spots defensively and stick to someone smaller or taller. She also demonstrated that she communicates well and she is someone that you’d want to keep on the floor at all times from a coaching perspective. She seems to stay level headed in all situations and that is something all great teams need.
