SE Polk has not lived up to their expectations as a whole the last few seasons but I think they are going to turn a corner this Winter with the new staff that they have brought in. This is a roster with several talented prospects at multiple positions. Debatably, one of their best, who could really show the rest of the state something over the next 24 months is Brooklyn Ruddy Brooklyn Ruddy 5'10" | CG Southeast Polk | 2028 State IA . Ruddy has that natural feel for the game when she competes. She makes a lot of reactionary moves on both sides of the ball, which somewhat demonstrates her feel for things in general. She can make open shots when she is left alone, she can finish at the bucket in multiple ways, and she isn’t a slouch on defense either from what we have seen the last couple of seasons. If this team gets things to click and everyone shares the rock the right way when they play, they might surprise some well-established programs around the DSM area before their season comes to a close. It’s not going to be easy but they have the type of players where it is possible.

SE Polk is another program that will have a new HC in charge, along with a new system on both sides of the ball as a whole. Someone that I expect to put up big numbers for the Rams throughout the Winter once again will be Brooklyn Ruddy. Ruddy has been a standout on the hardwood ever since she has seen Varsity minutes as a Freshman. She is a multi-sport athlete, that has a ton of energy and a long battery life as a competitor. She never seems to get tired and that is contagious to those around her. This group will have playmakers at every grade level on their roster moving into this school year. If they do things the right way and their defense travels, they should be able to win some meaningful games this upcoming season as a whole.

Brooklyn Ruddy was a standout last season on the Varsity floor for Southeast Polk and with a new coach in place this upcoming Winter, she might be even better over the next two years. Ruddy has that cool and calm ability to get to where ever she wants to on the floor. She moves past her matchups with relative ease and she knows how to defend her own position. I think we are in for a big June high school run from the Rams and Ruddy could be leading that charge. She has been someone to note the last six months on the floor and so I’m hoping that she can continue with that momentum as we move into the thick of Summer.

Southeast Polk has some respectable guard play this Winter from the looks of it. Someone that kept getting their name called for one reason or another last night was their CG – Brooklyn Ruddy Brooklyn Ruddy 5'10" | CG Southeast Polk | 2028 State IA . Ruddy is someone with a crafty dribble, a good sense of how to attack her defender offensively, while being able to jump to the ball defensively at a higher rate than most. In this contest Ruddy knocked down a three pointer or two, she got to the hoop at a consistent rate, and she worked hard defensively as a disruptor. When Southeast Polk has success this Winter, I’m sure Ruddy will too. She showed some glimpses of a solid foundation in this contest and she should be able to build on that moving forward.
