During last year’s travel season, Hailstock secured offers from Lander, Wingate and in-state Division I Presbyterian. One should expect even more offers from college coaches as Hailstock prepares for her final go-round through the grassroots realm. Hailstock has participated in a pair of 5A Division 1 Upper State championship games during her career with J.L. Mann and she reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career this past season. Playing in 21 games this past season with the Patriots, Hailstock averaged 17.8 points per contest. She was one of the four juniors that were part of this past season’s Patriots assembling.

A scoring point guard that has multiple tools in her bag to find ways to score. She gets points from three-point shots, jumpers, layups and free throws. Hailstock does what she can to try to keep her team in games. Defensively, she uses her quickness to get the opponent in front of her and away from the basket.

A get-together that featured two of the premier teams in the 5A Division 1 ranks may not have gone the way of Hailstock’s J.L. Mann team, but the star Patriots junior did everything she could as indicated by the 20 points she scored. Her ability to put points on the board using a variety of methods is only one part of her game that makes her a tough out for defenses. Fusing together talent with veteran instincts is another strong point of Hailstock’s game. Out of the 20 points she scored, 16 occurred in the first half and a good number of those second quarter buckets were courtesy of the free throw line.

A playmaking guard that can get downhill and make crafty moves. Excellent ball handling skills highlights Jade as a point guard. She is also a prolific scorer in the midrange and shooting the three ball. Hailstock leads her team on both ends of the floor. JL Mann will go this year as far as Jade takes them.

As is often the case with multi-team events, the host squad had the final turn at the mic. Hailstock ensured that her 5A Division 1 J.L. Mann team would successfully defend its home court as the Patriots thrashed 2A Timberland with the final score being 59-29. Hailstock finished the day’s play with a 20-point outing. She has blossomed into a seasoned veteran with the Patriots and her skillset includes the ability to attack the rim and either finish strong at the rim or connect on a short floater. Her defense can create many deflections for an opposing team and she is also very effective in the midrange game.

Hailstock’s recruitment took quite the uptick during the summer months of AAU ball. She landed offers from Wingate, Coker and a Division I look from Presbyterian. The phrase “take a play off” does not appear in Hailstock’s basketball thesaurus. She understands how to find lanes through defenses to attack the rim and exerts a high level of energy on the defensive end of the floor as well. Regardless of where Hailstock is on the court, she is a threat to put points on the board. She played in 27 games last season for a J.L. Mann team that was a 5A Division 1 Upper State finalist in back-to-back seasons. She averaged 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals.

Hailstock has certainly experienced in uptick in her recruitment activity over the past several weeks. Last month, she secured an in-state offer from Lander. This month, Hailstock landed a second in-state get from Presbyterian as well as one from right across the state line at Wingate. Her play has been a key factor in re-establishing 5A Division 1 J.L. Mann as one of the teams to beat across the Palmetto State. Hailstock’s Patriots have been an Upper State finalist the last two seasons. Last season – en route to a 20-7 record (including a perfect 14-for-14 in region), Hailstock averaged 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals a contest.

Hailstock had one of the signature freshman seasons across South Carolina two years ago and followed it up with a sophomore effort where she averaged 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists for a J.L. Mann team that qualified for an Upper State championship contest for the second consecutive season. Listed at 5-foot-4, she wears the uniform of Adidas team Upward Stars 3SSB on the grassroots circuit. Connecting on her attempts from the midrange is part of the nucleus to her game in addition to skilled ball handling. Opposing teams must also watch out for Hailstock from behind the 3-point line and she can come away with steals on defense.

When one watches Hailstock play, one cannot help but think “pure guard.” Hailstock was key in getting J.L. Mann its fourth victory of the season as she scored 12 points in what was a balanced Patriots scoring attack against fellow 5A foe in Goose Creek. Among the many attributes that make Hailstock a pure guard is her ball handling capabilities. Another is how she keeps defenses guessing when attacking the basket. Hailstock can drive straight to the cup through a sea of opposing defenders or will connect on a floater. She is also not afraid to draw contact and get to the free throw line.
