The first two games that Westside has played in this year’s 4A state tournament have resulted in flat-out Rams dominance. The latest of which occurred against Travelers Rest where Marshall led the charge with 19 points. Westside began the tournament with a 73-12 thrashing of Bluffton. The star freshman Rams guard has been one of the team’s leaders in virtually every major statistical category. Marshall has averaged 12.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, three steals, 2.8 assists and just under a block per contest. A berth in the 4A Upper State finals will be up for grabs on Monday when Westside hosts Camden.

Many an onlooker likely believed the contest between 4A Westside and 5A Division 1 Dorman would be the game of the day. It was – from a Rams perspective. Because of a 25-point outburst courtesy of Westside’s star 2029, the Rams routed the Cavaliers by a final score of 84-52. Dorman’s defense simply had no answers for how effective Marshall was in attacking the rim and finishing strong at the cup. At 5-foot-10, Marshall is not only a talented scoring guard but also a rebounding one as well. Creating additional opportunities with her defense is another strong point of the freshman who has been playing varsity since she was a seventh grader.

This kid is a superb talent. She showed why she already has several Division I offers. Tiana has blazing speed and off the charts leaping ability. She blocked shots from the top of the key when opponents would try to shoot. Then, it was a foot race to the basket which no one was going to catch her. She is a three level scorer but her biggest strength right now appears to be her ability to attack the rim with her quickness and get to the rim.

When one watches Marshall play, one can see that she plays as if she has more experience than a typical freshman – because she does. Marshall has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader and has played on plenty of big stages with 4A Westside. A versatile product of AEBL Girlz, Marshall will exert the hard work it takes to complete a play and looks to consistently come through. Part of her versatility included the ability to consistently haul in rebounds even though she primarily plays as a guard in the backcourt. Marshall’s Rams are expected to be strong contenders again this coming season after advancing to the 4A championship game in 2024-25.

Included in the early slate for Roses Friday play was a matchup between AEBL Girlz 16U P24 and Tulsa JYD Gold 2028. Anyone who was watched Marshall’s play with Westside – last season’s 4A state runners-up – can tell that she certainly deserves to play up in class. At 5-foot-9, she certainly provides plenty of height and that is complimented with versatility as she is willing to play at a variety of different spots on the court. She has more experience than the average freshman given she already has two seasons of varsity experience under her belt. Marshall averaged 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds. 3.9 assists and 3.5 steals last season for the Rams.
