Jakaila Gaskin is a big asset in the paint being able to go up high for the pass and to score her points.  She does well moving around flashing across the paint to get the opening, and she was doing well on the other end protecting the basket with her length.  She was all over the boards grabbing rebounds.

Gaskin is an elite post player that has tremendous skill and footwork. She is high level when it comes to knowing how to score. She does a tremendous job of finishing in the paint and using a variety of moves. JaKaila can also step out and shoot the ball or blow by bigger defenders that come outside the paint to defend her. She is also good on the defensive end and battling on the boards.

Jakaila showed again why she is a match up nightmare for opposing teams. At 6’3 with guard skills, Gaskin also showed her high level of intelligence punishing smaller players on offense inside and blowing by bigger defenders who tried to come out and guard her on the perimeter. Her footwork and leaping ability allow her to go around and over defenders trying to guard her. Gaskin played excellent defense coming up with four steals for Cannon. She was also very active on the backboards rebounding the ball finishing the game with a double-double.

A dominating performance for Jakaila. She showed a lot of heart and grit coming back after being injured on Friday and was a beast on the court Saturday. One of the best games I have seen her play. She was a true leader talking and helping her teammates, hustled up and down the court on every play and made baskets and grabbed rebounds throughout the entire game. Definitely showed she a high-level player!

Let me just say the future is very bright for this young lady and Cannon School. Jakaila has already made a huge impact not only at Cannon, but with the P4 college coaches, as well. She has awesome length that allows her to have a big advantage against most of her opponents. She dominates the paint at 6’3. Gaskin has great feel and touch around the basket, moves well for her size and is a force to reckon with on the glass. She will be exciting to watch over the next few years.

JaKaila Gaskin JaKaila Gaskin 6'3" | C Cannon | 2028 State #30 Nation NC has been on everyone’s radar for a while and for good reason.  Her height alone is sure to get her some attention, but it’s what she can do with it that counts.  She’s strong in the paint using her long strides to step around her opponents and quick feet to make her move scoring the basket.  She runs the floor well being able to catch the pass and score it easily consistently making herself a big target all over the court.

JaKaila Gaskin JaKaila Gaskin 6'3" | C Cannon | 2028 State #30 Nation NC has been a fun athlete to watch over the years dominating things in the paint.  She constantly keeps her head on a swivel knowing where she can lose her defender getting the entry pass and going to work on the block.  She is an aggressive rebounder grabbing them on both ends of the court, and going back up.  In everything she does, she shows her strength standing her ground and exploding to the basket.
