Jakay was easily one of the top players at the Freshman Showcase. She’s a strong, physical presence down low and was a beast in the paint. She owned the offensive glass, grabbing rebounds and going right back up strong to score. Jakay also displayed nice footwork and an impressive post moves. Defensively, she used her length to protect the paint and made it difficult to get anything at the rim.

Grider is a strong rebounder with a bright future ahead. While many basketball fans may not know her name yet, that is likely to change in the coming years. Jakay uses her size and strength effectively around the basket, finishing through traffic and creating second-chance opportunities. She also shows impressive feel as a passer, finding open shooters when defenses collapse on her in the paint. Coming from one of the state’s premier programs at Assumption, Jakay has the tools and potential to become a major name in Kentucky basketball as she continues to develop.
